When the IDDSI Board of Directors developed the IDDSI Framework and its supporting documents, these materials were intended to be living documents that would be reviewed and updated as needed. IDDSI is pleased to share with our global community a series of “e-fresh” updates to our resource documents.

In this e-fresh communication, we are announcing the forthcoming/future addition of the IDDSI Funnel to both core IDDSI Framework documents: the Detailed Definitions Document and the Testing Methods Document.

The update includes:

• Adding the term “IDDSI Funnel” alongside the word “syringe” throughout the documents.
• Reporting that the IDDSI Funnel was validated through laboratory testing and produced identical results to the 10 mL slip-tip syringe.
• Including a new reference to the validation of the IDDSI Flow Test using the IDDSI Funnel.
• Adding images of the IDDSI Funnel and the IDDSI Flow Test performed with the funnel to both documents.

Once these revisions are incorporated into the English versions of the framework documents, IDDSI will communicate the updates through three channels:

• e-fresh communications announcing changes and updates to IDDSI documents and resources.
• The homepage of the IDDSI website, where the red IDDSI e-fresh section will highlight updates and direct readers to the change log: https://www.iddsi.org/resources/framework-documents 
• IDDSI e-bites and social media posts.

We would like to emphasize that the IDDSI Framework itself remains unchanged; these updates relate only to supporting resource documents and guidance materials.
