"Miami has to be the natural venue for the Latin Grammys because it is the cultural capital of Latin America," said gallery owner and collector Gary Nader when presenting his initiative to host once again the musical event.
Artists like Emilio and Gloria Estefan and politicians like the mayor of Miami-Dade, Daniella Levine Cava, were summoned to support the idea.
At the event, Manuel Abud, CEO of Latin Grammy, said he would "love" the awards to be granted in Miami, although he clarified that the decision does not depend on him. "Hopefully, we can do it," he said.
"Miami represents many communities, and the Latin Grammys are a great three-hour commercial that the entire world sees. We want to show this privileged city where we live", affirmed the musician and producer Emilio Estefan.
For her part, Daniella Levine Cava, mayor of Miami-Dade County, described the event as "very special for the community."
"It would be divine to have him in Miami," she said.
The initiative was presented at the Gary Nader Art Center.
