Educators at The Brain Center of Green Bay are our volunteers of the week!
Brain disease and impairments affect the lives of one in six people and cost over a trillion dollars in annual treatment. Though our region is fortunate to have three major healthcare systems, their focus is often limited to addressing immediate concerns, leaving a gap in proactive, preventive care. The Brain Center bridges this gap by offering evidence-based interventions through their Brain Health Education Program. The program’s volunteers share their time and expertise, working with clients and their care partners to provide a personalized relationship. Scientists have shown that one-on-one coaching is among the most effective ways to help people make and sustain improvements in their lives.
The Brain Center’s educators are seasoned medical professionals with knowledge of the field and connections to the latest in medical science. They help individuals and families set goals and take action based on that person’s unique needs, experiences, and abilities. In addition, educators help individuals and care partners prepare for conversations with healthcare providers, so they may ask questions and gain confidence to take charge of their brain wellness journey. Educators also meet weekly to ‘research the research’ and discuss the latest developments, allowing them to provide the most accurate and current information.
Because there currently are no cures for neurodegenerative diseases, those afflicted often feel helpless. The Brain Center’s educators are dedicated to working with these individuals through as many sessions as necessary to address their needs, offering a way for them to take back control of their journey. Thank you, Brain Center educators, for your efforts that both equip others to take on life’s challenges and provide hope for a brighter future!

Lambeau Field Ticket Scanning - October 29 (plus additional dates)
Hand of Hope seeks volunteer groups to assist with ticket scanning at Packer games. Options:
-
Pre- and early-game - Groups will check in with the volunteer supervisor, grab a water and red polo/jacket from the usher room, then walk to their assigned gate. PMI staff/volunteer supervisors can provide direction. Groups typically stay together, but on occasion, several group members may be asked to scan at a separate gate. A gate supervisor will train groups using a handheld ticket scanning device. There are also self-scanning pedestals at some gates (which Lambeau is transitioning to). Gate supervisors will set groups up by the bike racks, then you will scan all incoming fans' tickets. Lambeau Field is 100% mobile ticketing. If you have any ticketing issues, gate supervisors are there to help and be a resource! Groups normally stay 30-45 minutes after kick-off, then are released by their gate supervisor. Volunteers are asked to thank the fans for coming and be engaged in the fun! You will be standing your entire shift. Individuals must wear tan or black pants (no shorts, no capris). Any shirt is fine as PMI will provide a red polo/jacket to wear over your shirt. Ponchos, hand warmers, sunscreen, and water are provided. Minimum age: 16.
-
Late-game - This task is for one group only of 8-10 people. The group will check in with the volunteer supervisor, grab a water, a boxed dinner/lunch, and red polo/jacket from the usher room. If the group is new to ticket scanning, training on using the handheld ticket scanning devices will be provided. Ticket supervisors will walk the group around the stadium, separating the group and placing one person at each gate with a Brown County officer. Lambeau Field is 100% mobile ticketing. There are also self-scanning pedestals at some gates (which Lambeau is transitioning to). If you have any ticketing issues, you will point the fan to the ticket office nearest your assigned gate. The group will stay until the end of the third quarter, then be released by the Brown County officer and return to the usher room to check out. Volunteers are asked to thank the fans for coming and be engaged in the fun! You will be standing your entire shift. Individuals must wear tan or black pants (no shorts, no capris). Any shirt is fine as PMI will provide a red polo/jacket to wear over your shirt. Ponchos, hand warmers, sunscreen, water, and a boxed dinner/lunch are provided. Minimum age: 18.

CASA Volunteer Training - February 16 and 23, and March 2, 2027
Sometimes, the greatest gift is simply showing up. As we move into a season centered around gratitude, we often think about the people who have made a difference in our own lives: the teacher who believed in us, the neighbor who checked in, or the person who was there when we needed them most. For a child who has experienced abuse or neglect, that person can be a CASA volunteer. A CASA volunteer may spend just one hour a week with a child, but that hour can become something they look forward to. It might be a walk around the neighborhood, a conversation about their favorite things, help with homework, or simply time spent together without judgment or expectations. Over time, those small moments build something powerful: trust, connection, and consistency. CASA volunteers also advocate for the child's best interests, making sure their needs and wishes are heard throughout the child welfare and court process. Please consider giving a child something that can last far beyond the holiday season: the gift of a consistent person in their corner. The next CASA volunteer training cohort will be held from 5:30-8:30 pm on February 16, February 23, and March 2, 2027. If you are age 21 or older and have one hour a week to give, they would love to connect with you and help you learn more about becoming a CASA volunteer. Click here for more information.

Pregnancy and Adoption Meal Train for Birth Parents
When a woman chooses adoption, she does so out of deep love for her child. Many of the women Catholic Charities serves are already parenting, working full-time, and facing life without a strong support system. While Catholic Charities walks alongside them throughout their adoption journey, the weeks following delivery can be especially difficult. They are seeking volunteers to form a meal train team for birth parents who have recently placed a child for adoption. Ideally, a team will consist of three to four volunteers who work together to provide two meals per week during the first month after delivery. By sharing the commitment among a small group, volunteers can provide consistent support while making the opportunity manageable for everyone involved. Flexible shifts. Minimum age: 18.

Companion Volunteers
Sometimes, the greatest gift is simply being there. Unity is looking for companion volunteers who are willing to share their time and presence with patients living with serious illness. For someone facing a serious illness, a familiar face and a caring conversation can mean so much. Your weekly visit can become something a patient looks forward to and is a chance to talk, laugh, share stories, or simply enjoy having someone there. As a companion volunteer, you may:
- Spend meaningful time visiting and socializing with a patient
- Listen, talk, share stories, play a game, or simply sit together
- Provide companionship and connection for patients who may feel isolated
- Give caregivers a much-needed break and an opportunity for respite
Visits may take place in a patient's home, nursing home, assisted living facility, or at Meng Hospice Residence. Unity is a not-for-profit partnership of Bellin Health, St. Mary's HSHS, and St. Vincent HSHS, caring for patients with serious illnesses while supporting their caregivers and families. Your presence can make a difference. You don't need to have all the answers. You don't need to know exactly what to say. You just need to be willing to show up, week after week, and be there. A weekly visit can bring comfort, and a sense of connection during a difficult time. For a patient and their family, knowing that someone is coming to see them can mean more than you may ever realize. If you have time in your week and a heart for people, Unity would love to hear from you. Join this volunteer team and discover how simply being there can make a lasting difference. Various shifts. Minimum age: 18.
