• Economists expect the Federal Reserve in its efforts to push down inflation, to raise rates enough to trigger a recession. Economists now put the chance of a recession sometime in the next 12 months at 49% in July, up from just 18% at the beginning of 2022.
• There have been 14 bear markets since World War II, including the one we are experiencing today. It took 14 months on average for stocks to get back to break-even after mild bear markets, but up to five years to get back to break even after the deepest bear markets.
• While the average weekly earnings for American’s have risen by 4.2% over the past year, they have really fallen by a shocking 4.4% when adjusted for inflation. 
• The dollar gained 6.8% from the end of May through mid-July, which is its largest increase since 2015. This has change has been especially painful for semiconductor stocks, such as Nvidia, Intel, and Qualcomm which get more than 50% of their sales from overseas.
