A Letter From The Principal

Dear Bishop Family -

 A Student's Prayer ~ St. Thomas Aquinas

Come, Holy Spirit, Divine Creator, true source of light and fountain of wisdom! Pour forth your brilliance upon my dense intellect, dissipate the darkness which covers me, that of sin and of ignorance. Grant me a penetrating mind to understand, a retentive memory, method and ease in learning, the lucidity to comprehend, and abundant grace in expressing myself. Guide the beginning of my work, direct its progress, and bring it to successful completion. This I ask through Jesus Christ, true God and true man, living and reigning with You and the Father, forever and ever. Amen

Welcome to the new bi-monthly Bishop newsletter. You can expect to receive future editions, full of news and updates, on the second and fourth Friday of each month.

It has been an amazing start to the school year and it is an exciting time at Bishop. My sincere thanks to everyone involved behind the scenes who helped to prepare for the students' arrival on August 12th. We continue to adjust to new faces, new schedules, and new expectations, but I am so proud of how our students have embraced these challenges. The commitment of our faculty and staff is remarkable, and we are blessed with involved parents devoted to our school family. My optimism for this year and Bishop's future has never been stronger because of all of you.

Mark your calendars - Friday, September 13th will be a big day at Bishop!

During the school day, the student body will gather on the new turf field for the first time for the Fall Sports Pep Rally. At 6:00 PM the Fall Student Showcase will begin in the EDPAC with the blessing of the new dance studio by Father Alex Padilla (Bishop '07) followed by a variety of performances by our incredibly talented students. Father Padilla will then bless the new batting cage complex, followed by the formal blessing of the new field before kickoff of the first home football game versus St. Francis at 7:00 PM.

Welcome back, welcome home - WE Are Bishop!

In His Peace,

Dr. Benjamin H. Moore, Ed.D.

Principal

A Letter From The Assistant Principal

As we embark on another exciting academic year at Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School, we are filled with anticipation and hope for the months ahead. The start of the school year is a fresh opportunity for growth in academics and our journey with Christ.

We are delighted to welcome back our returning students and staff and share our Bishop McLaughlin Catholic community with our new students and faculty. We are excited to see how our new members will contribute to the vibrant and supportive environment that defines BMCHS.

Our commitment to academic excellence is intertwined with spiritual growth. Our curriculum is designed not only to impart knowledge but also to encourage students to live out their faith in everyday life. Participation in Mass twice a month and grade level retreats throughout the year are aimed at nurturing a strong sense of moral and ethical responsibility.

Please check the updated school calendar for upcoming events. I would like to emphasize the Parents Guidance Nights, September 17, for Grades 9 & 10, and September 24, for grade 11 & 12. Our Guidance counselors will be providing you with important information for your child’s high school experience and preparation for college.

We encourage parents and guardians to stay actively involved in their child’s education and spiritual development. Your support and encouragement play a crucial role in their success. Remember, our office doors are always open for any questions or discussions regarding your child’s academic or spiritual growth.

Yours in Christ,

Mr. Schlereth

Assistant Principal

Hello Bishop!

I am the new School Counselor at Bishop McLaughlin for 9th and 10th grade. A little about me, I received my undergraduate degree from Pepperdine University. Then I did my graduate work at Boston College. I've worked as a PK-8th grade counselor and mental health counselor in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg, and I’m excited to start a new adventure at Bishop!

The mission of Bishop McLaughlin Catholic High School’s Counseling Department is to provide comprehensive programming that ensures academic, career, social, and spiritual development for all students. The program is proactive and preventative in its focus assisting students in their professional career path as well as their spiritual and emotional growth.

Goals that I have for this year are to:

  • Assist students with personal, academic, and career concerns through individual and/or group counseling sessions.
  • Build and implement guidance curriculum to develop the whole student.
  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, parents, and community organizations to support all students.
  • Encourage students in their spiritual maturation so that they can become independent, confident, and responsible young adults of character.
  • Support students through their challenges in order to meet their goals and help them to lead more generous and joy-filled lives.

Generally, school counseling is a short-term process that requires positive rapport with students. Referral to individual school counseling may be initiated by the student, the parents, teachers, administration, or other school personnel. I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am here to help students be successful in their social, spiritual, and academic goals as well as provide support for parents and teachers.

I can be reached through email paige.cargioli@bmchs.com or by phone (727) 857-2600.

Let’s have a great year!

Peace,

Paige Cargioli
