An Electrifying Afternoon of Softball: Reid vs. Tallahassee State College!



We had an exhilarating afternoon as our team took on Tallahassee State College! It was a wonderful opportunity for everyone to come together, show their support, and cheer our players on as they gave it their all.


Fans brought their friends, family, and school spirit, filling the stands with enthusiastic support. Whether you’re a die-hard softball fan or just looking for a good time, the atmosphere was electric and the game unforgettable.


Everyone donned their team colors, enjoyed delicious snacks, and shared good vibes. We rallied together, making plenty of noise to cheer our team to victory!

Action-Packed Double-Header: Reid State vs. Wallace Selma Community College!



We had an action-packed day of baseball as Reid State took on Wallace Selma Community College in an exciting double-header!

The games started at 9:30 AM at Hoover Met Complex and were filled with thrills and competition.

Whether you were a die-hard baseball fan or just looking for a fun way to spend your day, this event was a must-see! With concessions available, fans came hungry and ready to cheer!

We rallied behind Reid State and made plenty of noise! Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fantastic day!

Reid State Technical College Foundation Awarded Grant from Ala-Tom RC&D Council


Evergreen, AL – The Reid State Technical College Foundation was pleased to announce that it had been awarded a grant from the Ala-Tom RC&D Council to support student scholarships. The Ala-Tom Empowerment Scholarship Program at Reid State was designed to assist students who were ineligible for federal financial aid due to program restrictions.


This grant helped bridge the financial gap for students who might otherwise have struggled to afford their education. By reducing financial barriers, the program aimed to improve student retention and completion rates, ultimately contributing to a more skilled and educated workforce in the region.


“We were grateful to the Ala-Tom RC&D Council for their support of this scholarship initiative,” said Dr. Coretta Boykin, President of Reid State Technical College. “This funding created new opportunities for our students, allowing them to focus on their studies and complete their programs. We were excited to see the positive effects this would have on our community.”


The Reid State Technical College Foundation remained committed to supporting the educational and career aspirations of its students. The Foundation continued to seek funding and partnerships to provide accessible and affordable education, ensuring that all students had the resources they needed to succeed.

Reid Acknowledges Breast Cancer Awareness Month


Mrs. Alice Antone’s Nursing 112 Class is committed to raising awareness for this important cause. This month-long international health campaign highlights the importance of screening and prevention for breast cancer, a disease that affects 2.3 million women worldwide.

This week, we proudly celebrate one of our outstanding students, Jassidy Owens, for her remarkable accomplishments and passion for healthcare!


Jassidy recently spoke with Southern Alabama AHEC about her journey and future goals. “Hi, my name is Jassidy Owens, and I’m thankful to SAAHEC for the opportunity to be part of this program. I am attending Reid State Technical College in the Health Science program. This wasn’t part of my original plan after high school; I never thought I would be going back to school just two weeks after graduating, but I’m glad I did. I’m grateful for this experience because I’ve learned so much over the summer and had fun doing it. I’m proud to say I passed the summer semester with A's and B's, and I’m now taking phlebotomy this fall semester. I plan to get certified once I complete the program.”

News Release: $400,000 in Scholarships Available for Automotive Manufacturing Training


MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama Automotive Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) have partnered once again to offer $400,000 in scholarships for residents interested in pursuing a career in the state's automotive manufacturing industry.


Individual scholarships of $4,000 will be awarded to students enrolled in automotive manufacturing programs at Alabama community colleges. These scholarships can be used to cover tuition, books, and fees for the 2025 spring, summer, or fall semesters.


Eligible programs include:


- Mechatronics

- Advanced Manufacturing Technology

- Automated Manufacturing Technology

- Industrial Electronics Technology

- Industrial Maintenance Technology

- Manufacturing Technology

- Machining/Machine Tool/CNC

- Automotive Service Technology

- Engineering Technology


Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 to qualify.

We invited students to join us at the Student Center on October 8th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a casual drop-in event! Attendees enjoyed light refreshments while learning about the UWill teletherapy agreement and developing valuable time management skills.

CPR Class Success at Reid State Technical College!


The Nursing Department at Reid State Technical College hosted a comprehensive CPR class for students. Participants learned vital life-saving skills, including hands-only CPR, rescue breathing, and the use of an AED.

Reid State Technical College Hosts Successful Advisory Meeting at the Edith A. Gray Library


Evergreen, AL — Reid State Technical College held its annual Advisory Meeting at the Edith A. Gray Library on campus. The meeting provided an opportunity for Dr. Boykin, alongside program instructors, to share updates with community leaders and discuss ongoing initiatives aimed at fostering partnerships between the college, local businesses, and industries.


Dr. Boykin opened the meeting by welcoming attendees and acknowledging several special guests, including Evergreen Mayor Stanley Stallworth, Conecuh County Superintendent Dr. Tonya Bozeman, Evergreen City Council members, State Representative Thomas Jackson (District 68), RSTC Foundation members, and scholarship recipients.


During the meeting, Dr. Boykin emphasized the importance of collaboration in creating new job opportunities and supporting workforce development in the region. She highlighted the college's ongoing efforts to align educational programs with industry needs, ensuring that Reid State students are well-prepared to enter the workforce.


One of the evening's highlights was a generous donation from State Representative Thomas Jackson, who contributed $10,000 to the Reid State Scholarship Fund to support students pursuing higher education. Representative Jackson also made a contribution to Dr. Tonya Bozeman to aid students within the public school system.


Dr. Boykin expressed her heartfelt gratitude to Representative Jackson and all attendees for their continued support of Reid State Technical College.


The evening served as a testament to the college's strong ties with the community and its commitment to educational excellence and economic development. Reid State looks forward to building on the momentum generated by the discussions and expanding its role in preparing the local workforce for future opportunities.

Donuts with the Deans


Reid State Technical College hosted a special event called Donuts with the Deans, an informal town hall where students had the opportunity to meet and discuss their needs directly with our deans.


This was a fantastic opportunity for students to share their thoughts, ask questions, and connect with the college leadership—all while enjoying delicious donuts!

The Countdown Begins !

The excitement filled the air as we counted down to the first official Reid State Men's Basketball game on November 1, 2024! 


Fans marked their calendars and got ready to cheer on our team as they hit the court for an action-packed season!


Player Spotlight: We highlighted Tristan Watson, a standout player from Jay High School in Jay, Florida. Tristan, a sophomore majoring in Business Administration, was expected to have a standout year on the court!

Spotlight on William Blackburn: A Legacy of Experience at Reid State


Jody Williamson, Instructor of Industrial Electricity & Electronics Technology/Industrial Maintenance Technology at Reid State, proudly shone a spotlight on his colleague, William Blackburn, Instructor of Industrial Electricity & Electronics.


Mr. Blackburn brought over 40 years of real-life, hands-on work experience to the classroom, providing students with invaluable insights that extended beyond textbooks. His teaching style, rooted in decades of practical knowledge, equipped students with the tools they needed to succeed in the workforce.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month Event Recap


Reid State Technical College honored Breast Cancer Awareness Month with a special event on Thursday, October 24th, 2024.


Students, faculty, and staff gathered for a moment of silence in remembrance of those affected by breast cancer. A group photo was taken to show our support and solidarity.


Participants wore pink breast cancer bows and brought their pink hearts to help spread awareness and show love for those impacted by this disease!


Thank you to everyone who came together to raise awareness and promote hope in our community.

Reid State Technical College Promotes Education and Awareness at the Conecuh County Sausage Festival


Reid State Technical College made a strong impact at this year’s Conecuh County Sausage Festival on October 19, 2024. Students and staff engaged the community through a variety of activities that highlighted the college’s programs and services. The event served as both an educational platform and a community outreach opportunity, allowing students to gain hands-on experience while giving back to the local area.


The Health Sciences department stood out at the festival by providing free blood pressure checks and promoting Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Students wore specially designed t-shirts to raise awareness about breast cancer and handed out promotional materials to attendees, emphasizing the importance of early detection and education. 


This dual effort showcased the department's focus on both health education and community service, as well as the practical skills of its students. Additionally, students in the dual enrollment Cosmetology program offered festival-goers complimentary braiding services, allowing them to practice their hairstyling skills while engaging with the public and providing a fun, interactive experience for attendees.


Visitors were also invited to step into the Welding booth, where they could explore the technical skills taught in Reid State’s Welding program. This interactive demonstration provided attendees with a closer look at the precision and craftsmanship involved in welding.


Reid State’s Student Services department was present as well, offering information on the college’s programs, admissions process, and available scholarships. Their efforts ensured that festival attendees left with a deeper understanding of the educational and career opportunities available at the college.


Through these activities, Reid State continued to demonstrate its dedication to both education and community involvement. The college’s participation in the Conecuh County Sausage Festival served as a testament to its commitment to serving the region and preparing students for success.

We introduced Rebekah, a freshman from Evergreen, AL, and a dedicated student at Reid State Technical College pursuing a career in Industrial Electricity. With her passion for technology and hands-on learning, she excelled in her studies and inspired her peers. Rebekah was committed to breaking stereotypes and proving that women belong in every corner of the industrial workforce. We can't wait to see all the great things she will accomplish!


We celebrated and supported women in industrial electricity by sharing their stories, highlighting their achievements, and encouraging more women to explore this rewarding career path. Together, we can build a more inclusive future for the industry!

Exciting Visit at Reid State Technical College!


We had the honor of welcoming Mr. Matthew Sermon, Executive Director of the Program Executive Office for Strategic Submarines, to Reid State! He was warmly greeted by our Student Government Association, Dr. Coretta Boykin, and our dedicated faculty and staff.


During his visit, Mr. Sermon engaged with our students in a Q&A session, learning about their educational journeys. Dr. Boykin shared key data on Reid State's growth and vision for future success.


Mr. Sermon toured our campus, including the Welding and Industrial Electricity and Electronics Technology programs, where students showcased their impressive hands-on skills. He also visited the Evergreen City Gym and explored our partnership with the Conecuh County School Workforce Development Center, which offered Dual Enrollment Training for high school students.


Dr. Boykin expressed her gratitude, stating, "It was a privilege to host Mr. Sermon and showcase the progress our students and faculty have achieved. His visit highlighted the importance of collaboration between education and industry."


We extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Sermon for taking the time to engage with our community and to the Conecuh County School System for their support. We are proud of our progress and remain committed to fostering partnerships that enrich student learning and strengthen community connections.

Domestic Violence Awareness Event Recap!


Reid State Technical College hosted a Domestic Violence Awareness Event on October 29th, 2024. This event was open to all students and community members, aiming to raise awareness and provide resources for those affected by domestic violence. Together, we worked to create a supportive environment and promote healing.


Attendees came to learn, share, and support this important initiative. Thank you to everyone who stood together to make a difference!

Our Communities Are Why We Exist!


Last night, Reid State Technical College had a blast participating in the City of Evergreen's Trunk or Treat event! Our team transformed our trunk into a festive and spooky display, handing out candy and connecting with the community. It was wonderful to see families and kids in their creative costumes, all enjoying a safe and fun Halloween experience.


A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our trunk! We loved being a part of this event and sharing in the festive spirit.
