UPDATE! Grants for Non-profit Performing Arts
Important Update! Due to an overwhelming number of applications since the opening of the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund (PAEPF), we will stop accepting new applications on Monday 3/17/25 at 11:59 pm.
Organizations who have started applications in the portal but have not completed them will be given until 3/19/25 at 11:59 pm to complete their existing applications.
Senate Bill 1116 (Government Code 8757) established the Performing Arts Equitable Payroll Fund (Program) to support small nonprofit performing arts organizations (SNPAOs) with adjusted gross revenue under $2 million, in hiring and retaining employees. Applications for this program are reviewed on a first come, first serve basis with no guarantee of funding.
The Fund reimburses a portion of payroll costs on a quarterly basis, using a tiered reimbursement schedule where the smallest organizations receive the highest percentage of reimbursement.
Examples of eligible small nonprofit performing arts organizations:
- Nonprofit theater companies
- Nonprofit dance companies
- Nonprofit choral groups
- Nonprofit presenting organizations
- Nonprofit performance venues
- Local arts councils (that present or produce performances)
