Fall Recruitment Season for new Cubs & Scouts BSA Youth!

The end-of-Summer back-to-school period and Fall season is a traditional time for highlighting new member recruiting, especially with our Cub Scout Packs and the local elementary schools. Scouting America reports that 59% of youth members polled were invited by a friend. Some units have already held invitational activities such a picnics and school nights. There are excellent resources available from the National website and by contacting your local support team Trish Ferenz (Cub Scouts, Exploring BSA) or MJ Andrews (Scouts BSA, Venturing BSA). Encourage your Scouts to become a Recruiter and earn the patch!

Join our Council Properties Committee Volunteer Team!

The Marin Council Properties Committee is looking for volunteers to help us maintain and improve Camps Tamarancho and Marin-Sierra, as well as our Council Service Center in San Rafael. We are fortunate to own outright each of these great properties which serve thousands of Scouts and Scouters every year and are essential to helping us provide a quality program for all our families. We are looking for individuals with any time or talent, but we especially need people who have experience in planning and design, building and construction, and technology. Please contact MJ Andrews at the Service Center at 415-454-1081 or by email if you would like to join or would like more information.

"Scouting for Food" Community Food Drive in November

A staggering one-in-five of your Marin County neighbors was in need of food assistance during this past year! Join Marin Council unit volunteers for our annual door-to-door community service campaign throughout assigned neighborhoods to pick-up food donations and transport them to the SF-Marin Food Bank in San Rafael where OA Talako Lodge Arrowmen will be on site to help unload. Doorhangers sponsored by the Rotary Club of Mill Valley are available for distribution to all units.

These guidelines to be followed at all times.

A Monthly News Bulletin for OA Lodge Members

Monthly Re-Cap: Talako Lodge Arrowmen have had several very successful months supporting several Lodge meetings plus the regional Section Conclave events in August and September at Camp Marin-Sierra. We also had multiple elections and visitations with troops around Marin Council reslting in our Fall weekend up at Camp Tamarancho, Octover 16-18. There we had an amazing turnout of new arrowmen, and the staff wo did a great job making the inductees' first event with the OA a memorable one.

November: The coming month will be very service-heavy including Scouting-for-Food on Saturday 11/14. Members of Talako Lodge will be working at the SF-Marin Food Bank collecting and sorting all of the donated food, which will be weighed and distributed to credit the units. Talako will also be participating in the Elks Lodge holiday decorating on Snday 11/29 as a way to give back to the organization that allows us to use their facilities.

We currently have a large selection of Lodge Flaps available (including the scenic series), which can be ordered online when completing your annual registration and dues payments. Check out our Talako Lodge Trading Post to purchase our awesome memorabilia!

If you have any questions about the National Order of the Arrow organization, or the local Talako Lodge in Marin Scouting, please contact by email Talako Lodge Chief Jack Wien, or the interim Lodge Chief Kate Wentzell.
