Message From the AAML President

By: Laura C. Belleau, AAML President

The heat is on! Just as the majority of North America experiences July as the hottest month of the year, AAML has been on fire this month. We have been working on admissions and policies, preparing AAML Chapter Leaders, launching the Elite Training for Family Law Support Staff and putting final touches on the 2025 Annual Meeting — you know, all the things!

In May, we launched the first of our new three-part tech stack, requiring every Fellow to create a new login to access their member profile. Slowly but surely, Fellows have created new logins. But to date, only a third of Fellows have created a new login — it is important we have everyone on the new system. If you need help creating a new login, instructions have been sent to your inbox. If you are having trouble, please contact the office for some help. We want everyone to be updated and ready to go by the Annual Meeting.

As some of us get ready to send kids back to school or drop them off at college, don’t forget to take care of your own education! The 2025 Annual Meeting is set for November 5-8 in Chicago, and it's shaping up to be another awesome event. Thursday’s keynote Ryan Leak will be talking about strategies for communicating with complicated people (a keynote presentation I could have used 30 years ago!). And speaking of keynotes, you should have received the link to complete the survey Yolanda Cartusciello will use to guide her keynote presentation on effective communication and conflict resolution. I encourage you to register early and secure your spot.

And while we’re talking calendars, here’s a special teaser: the 2026 Midyear Meeting is happening March 10-13 in Scottsdale, AZ, and the National Family Law Conference will be in Las Vegas in June, 2026. With so many of our programs filling up fast, be sure to save the date — and watch your inbox for registration announcements coming later this year.

There are so many exciting things in store for AAML, but it’s still summer 2025, so put those Wayfarers on!

Sunny Days, Smooth Transitions: Helping Clients Navigate Summer Custody

By: Laurie M. Wasserman, Esq., and Elizabeth Pentakis, Esq.

Parenting agreements can quickly become confusing, especially during summer. The structure of the school year gives way to a more flexible (and often chaotic) routine, which can lead to misunderstandings and disagreements between co-parents. Now is the perfect time to check in with your clients and help them feel confident navigating the summer schedule.

The 2025 AAML Institute for Family Law Associates: A Review and Recommendation, Part 1

Why Every Associate Should Attend the AAML Institute

By: William B. Reingold, Jr.

This review of the 2025 AAML Institute for Family Law Associates explains why any committed family law associate would be wise to attend the conference, citing how AAML "absolutely delivered" when it came to content, how the presentations were relevant to all attendees and how associates were encouraged to know their limits and to "hire an expert" when necessary.

AAML Tech Tips: reMarkable

By: The AAML Law Practice Management and Technology Committee

In this new Tech Tip from the AAML Law Practice Management and Technology Committee, Kevin Rubin sits down with David Morgan to explain how Fellows can benefit from using the reMarkable Paper Pro tablet to replace paper notepads in their offices.
