Substance Abuse Training

for Supervisors

Drug Free Workplace Compliance

Under DOT regulation 49 CFR Part 40, employers in Department of Transportation-regulated industries must conduct drug and alcohol testing for employees in safety-sensitive positions at designated points throughout their employment.

Reasonable Suspicion/Cause testing is one of the most important, and often most challenging, components of a drug-free workplace program. This type of testing allows employers to act outside routine testing requirements when specific, observable indicators of substance use are present. Only supervisors who have completed the required training may make a reasonable suspicion determination.

Valley Health Employer Health offers a half-day Substance Abuse Training for Supervisors that includes:

  • Review of company drug and alcohol policies
  • DOT reasonable suspicion requirements
  • Recognition of signs and symptoms of impairment
  • Interactive case studies and real-world scenarios

Heat Related Illness

Millions of U.S. workers are exposed to heat in their workplaces. Although heat-related illness is preventable, thousands of workers become sick each year from occupational heat exposure, and some cases are fatal.

Protect your workforce by taking proactive steps to prevent heat-related illness. Develop and implement a heat illness prevention plan, provide training, ensure access to water, rest, and shade, and empower employees to recognize the warning signs of heat stress. OSHA and NIOSH offer valuable resources to help you create a safer work environment.

Making Health Care Accessible to Everyone

Mobile Mammography Van

Mobile Health is a focus of the Valley Health Foundation campaign - Stronger Together. Less than 50% of eligible women in our community are getting their annual screening mammogram. These are our neighbors and friends — people we care about who delay seeking medical attention because they don’t have the time or the means to access care. Valley Health is excited to introduce our new Mobile Mammography Van to the community this summer. A Mobile Mammography Van ensures that transportation or work schedules don't prevent women from getting this life-saving screening. Companies interested in scheduling on-site mobile mammography should contact Mary.Robinson@valleyhealthlink.com.
