The Village of Ossining invites you for much-needed input for the NYS Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) 2021 Application. This initiative is designed to look at a comprehensive approach to boosting local economies by transforming communities into vibrant neighborhoods where the next generation of New Yorkers will want to live, work, raise a family or retire. It is a multi-step process, and one of the most important steps is community engagement. To this end, last Thursday, the Village began the process of community engagement regarding our submission for the 5th round of the NYS Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) 2021 Grant. We held two meetings (in English & Spanish) to educate the community on the DRI process and its parameters.

If you missed those meetings, you can watch them here:

This was a good first step in engagement, and we are now asking for more community participation. There are two ways that the community can actively participate.
Public Survey: This survey will help gather critical input on the community's vision for a thriving, vibrant, diverse, and unique downtown (closes on Wednesday, September 1st, 2021).
|
|
In-Person: On Saturday, August 28th, from 9-11 AM at Market Square, bilingual staff will be on hand during the Ossining Farmer’s Market to hear and gather ideas about downtown revitalization from residents and visitors. We encourage you to participate and pick up a few things at the market!
|
|
Please share your ideas with us so that we can submit a winning application and bring $10 million to our community! It's a life-changing amount for a Village like ours.
For more information, please visit the Village's website, which will serve as an online hub for all things related to the Village's Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) 2021 Grant Application.
We look forward to hearing from you.

This week’s Legislative Meeting Agenda (Wednesday 8/18) will be in person at 16 Croton Avenue in the Board Room. We will also stream via Zoom for those community members/ interested parties who wish to watch/participate from home-- the legislation says the BOT must meet in person.
Some selected highlights:
- We have Public Hearings on local laws for towing, fire hazard inspections, third-party design professionals, and opting out of adult-consumption sites for cannabis. All four local laws are listed with links in the agenda.
- The BOT will be asked to call for a Public Hearing on Local Law #12 of 2021, which allows for the mobile parking app to be used to pay for metered parking in the Village—the hearing itself will take place on 9/1.
- There is a resolution authorizing the Village Manager to sign a contract with Sustainable Westchester to enact the RecycleRight program, which is a mobile phone app that will allow folks to access our sanitation schedules online (we are excited that we can have this up and before year’s end). Less paper is always best for our environment and frankly leaves more money in our pockets.
