Gilmoretown -
Broadway's Center Street Area
Off the Taunton-Boston Turnpike, what is now considered Route 138 or Broadway, there was a small hamlet. Some residences, a school, and only 3 roads to its name. Here, a shoe store was established by the brothers of Cassander and Henry T. Gilmore. They then named this tiny neighborhood 'Gilmoretown'.
Gilmore Road was established. At the center of it was the shoe store. As the village built up, it added a blacksmith and then became a part of the village of Prattville, within the Raynham district no. 3.
In 1858, the old colony railroad was laid out in this area, with a now-defunct depot. The railroad was later extended into New York, New Hampshire, and the Boston Railway in Taunton. By the 20th Century, Gilmoretown had developed into its own sustainable settlement, with general stores, mills, and farms.

GET YOUR GAME ON!!
Are you a Lego Master? If so, it's time to show off your skills!
Lego Adventures
Grades 2 - 4
Thurs 09/28/2023 - 11/16/2023
3:30 - 4:30 PM
LaLiberte Elementary School - Cafeteria
Each week in Lego Adventures, there is a new challenge to build: From skyscrapers to farms, bridges to airports, space stations to main streets, and everything in between!
The Right Brain Curriculum instructors will only reveal challenges, but will also review the history of what we are about to build:
- How airports graduated from landing strips to vast travel networks
- How Depression-era farms survived hordes of grasshoppers
- How aeroelasticity explains why the Tacoma bridge nicknamed "Galloping Gertie" collapsed.
Then, it's time to build! You will create a model of each type of structure out of an enormous assortment of provided Legos, then present your creation as we photograph and document it.
Learning and Legos: A perfect match!!

Raynham Middle School Outdoor Classroom Renovation Complete
This passion project for the people of Raynham has finally reached the end. It began with Leslie Kola who is currently the advisor for the school's outdoor classroom and garden club. This club was started to bring interest in gardening and farming to the students of RMS. For the longest time, this space was just a flat field, but with the help of the people of Raynham, our space was renovated to this awesome outdoor classroom space.
After some time over the course of the year, it went from a grassy field to an exploratory playground and outdoor classroom space. Volunteers and help from Shamrock Concrete have really beautified this area. Along with them, Leslie personally thanks the Raynham Middle School Parent's Organization Board for their support. We're growing green thumbs!

#Shop Small!
Independent coffee shops, hair and nail salons, corner stores, spas, boutique clothing stores, consignment shops, restaurants, craft stores, bars, fruit & veggie markets, shoe/bike/tire repair shops, art supply stores, gift shops, gas stations, pet stores, and many many more exist within 10 miles of your home.
1. Small businesses give back (more) to your community. When you support a local business, you’re also supporting your town, city, and neighborhood. Business pay taxes to their local town or city. That tax money supports public schools, parks, roads, and sidewalks, as well as public service workers, like firefighters. And according to Civic Economics, “on average, 48% of each purchase at local independent businesses is recirculated locally, compared to less than 14% of purchases at chain stores.”
2. Small businesses make a major economic impact. More than half of the U.S.’s jobs since 1995 were created by small businesses. According to SBA, since 1990, big businesses eliminated 4 million jobs, while small businesses added 8 million jobs. Shopping at a local store creates potential job opportunities.
3. Small businesses provide better customer service. They have is the ability to provide more personable, hands-on, and memorable customer service.
4. Small businesses provide greater access to product diversity. If a small business doesn’t have the products you want or need, ask them!
5. Small businesses create a sense of community. You’re much more likely to get to know a small business owner and other customers in your neighborhood.
6. You’re going to feel good Shopping Small!
Get vocal on social. *Post pictures and status updates, hashtag #ShopSmall * Write positive reviews for the small businesses you love and support.
