He's Back, and ready to see everyone!

The leaves are turning, the mornings are cooler, and even the bears are settling in for winter—while we are gearing up for our best season yet.

We are excited to welcome back everyone's favorite office manager, Aaron O’Hearn! As many of you know, Aaron spent the summer promoting everything Prince George has to offer through his work with Tourism PG, and now he is back, ready to help our members and guests make the most of the season.

Starting October 1, Aaron will be in the office weekdays from 9:00 am–5:00 pm, preparing our facilities for winter and assisting anyone looking to purchase memberships. If you would like to avoid online credit card fees, stop by the rental shop and Aaron will be happy to get you set up in person.

Be sure to get your membership early to maximize your chances of winning in our membership draws!

Membership Drive Update:

This Week’s Winners!

As we build our membership this season with aspirations of reclaiming the crown of Largest Club in Canada, we are excited to announce our first Membership Drive winners:

  • Jasper Kohut
  • Melissa Grisedale

Congratulations! A big thank you as well to Black Fox Flour for their generous donation to help us launch the drive.

The next draw is on October 13 — and remember, the earlier you register, the more chances you have to win. Each winner’s name goes right back into the draw, so early members enjoy multiple opportunities throughout the fall.

Prizes this season include contributions from Stride & Glide, Koops, Tourism PG, OVERhang, and more. We are grateful to these local businesses for their amazing support.

Reminder: New this season: Program registration (Youth Competitive, Skills Development, and more) will be available through a separate page. Links will be included in this newsletter and on our website.

Backyard Ultra-Lite :

A Fun New Running Challenge!

Sunday, October 5

Have you heard of a Backyard Ultra? It is a unique running event where participants run a set loop on the half hour, every half hour, until they can no longer continue. The last runner standing wins.

At Caledonia Nordic, we are hosting our own Backyard Ultra-Lite version—a shorter, more accessible format designed so runners of all levels can join the fun. Loops are shorter, the time limit decreases gradually, and you can choose how many rounds you want to complete.

Here’s the best part: prizes will be awarded after each segment, so you do not need to finish the full distance to be a winner. Run one loop, or push yourself all the way for the Grand Prize and ultimate Backyard Ultra-Lite glory!

This is your chance to challenge yourself, cheer on fellow runners, and experience one of the most exciting formats in the running world—right here at Otway

Second Annual Turkey Trot:

Sunday, October 12

Join us on Sunday, October 12, 2025 for the 2nd Annual Turkey Trot, presented by the CNSC Race Teams! This family-friendly Thanksgiving walk/run is the perfect way to enjoy the crisp fall air and kick off the holiday with your community.

  • 9:30 am – Registration opens
  • 10:00 am – Walk/run begins

Choose your route:

  • Main Route (5K): Fingers and Pine Flats loop
  • Short Route (1.5K): Paved trail loop (stroller-friendly!)

Registration is by donation (suggested $5.00), and tasty Thanksgiving treats will be waiting at the finish line.

Bring your family, bring your friends, and trot into the season with us at Otway!

Annual General Meeting:

Wednesday, October 22, 7pm

Come join us for our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, October 22 at 7:00 pm in the Main Lodge.

We will take a look back at the year, vote in some new Board Members, and make a decision on the Final Proposed By-Laws. And yes—there will be snacks!

It is a great chance to connect with other members, share ideas, and be part of shaping the season ahead. We would love to see you there!

Ski Swap:

Saturday, October 25

Mark your calendars! Our Annual Ski Swap will be held on Saturday, October 25 at Caledonia Nordic.

This is your chance to:

  • Find amazing new-to-you equipment at great prices
  • Sell gear that no longer fits or meets your needs
  • Support our youth programs, with proceeds going back into helping young skiers grow and thrive

We will also be hosting our second Cash/Cheque Day on the same date—making it the perfect opportunity to get your membership set for the coming season and save on online fees.

More details on drop-off times, event schedule, and logistics will be shared soon—but for now, save the date and get ready for one of our most popular community events!

Notice of Special Resolution Vote At Caledonia Nordic Ski Club Annual General Meeting on Final Proposed Bylaws
Dear Caledonia Nordic Ski Club (CNSC) Members;
As required by the Societies Act of British Columbia, and the current, 2017 CNSC bylaws, I would like to provide you with written notice that a special resolution is presented for consideration and vote at the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM) of the members of the CNSC on October 22, 7 pm. The purpose of this special resolution is to repeal the current 2017 bylaws in their entirety, to adopt a new set of bylaws, and to support bylaw implementation.
Proposed Special Resolution
Be it resolved that:
·       The current 2017 bylaws of the CNSC be repealed in their entirety and replaced with the bylaws attached to this notice, titled “Final Proposed Bylaws of the CNSC for Special Resolution Vote – September 26, 2025”, and that these new bylaws take effect upon filing with the registrar at BC Registries; and
·       The 2025/26 elected Board of Directors strike a Governance Committee to create policies including, but not limited to: privacy; conflict of interest; finance; member code of conduct; member engagement and communication; strategic planning; and electronic voting.
The proposed bylaws are attached to this email and will be available for review along with all AGM materials (including agenda, reports, and previously nominated candidates for election of directors) on the CNSC website (https://caledonianordic.com/our-club/club-governance/). Members are encouraged to review the proposed bylaws in advance of the meeting. Supporting material, below, outlines some of the key differences between the current 2017 and the proposed CNSC bylaws.
Voting Details
This resolution requires approval by at least 75% of the votes cast by members present at the meeting, in accordance with the Societies Act and CNSC’s current 2017 bylaws.
If you have questions or require clarification, please contact me, Gretchen Prystawik, CNSC Secretary at secreatary@caledonianordic.com.
The CNSC Board appreciates all the volunteers and members who have contributed hundreds of hours to the bylaw review process, as well as your attention to this important matter. We encourage all members to participate in the AGM and vote on the special resolution.
Sincerely,
Gretchen Prystawik
