The season so far has ushered in cold winds, abrupt temperature changes, intense storms, and even isolated tornadoes. As we say hello to the month of May with golf courses all open for business, we mark the brief but highly anticipated Chicago golf season. In addition, preparations are also underway for a summer of notable professional golf tournaments, high-caliber play, and appealing travel opportunities. Following a successful four-year run with NV5 as the title sponsor of the Glenview-based Korn Ferry Tour tournament, the event was formally renamed in 2026 as the Evans Scholars Invitational. The event returns to The Glen Club on July 23-26, with the Western Golf Association continuing to serve as the tournament operator.
This move returns the event to its roots, bringing back the name that was used from 2019-2021. During that time, the tournament saw future four-time major champion and 19-time PGA TOUR winner Scottie Scheffler capture his first career victory, while serving as a launching point for recent winner of the Players Championship and Ryder Cup selection, Cameron Young.
Following this change, the Evans Scholars Invitational will enable the WGA to put the brightest spotlight on its sole charitable beneficiary – the Evans Scholars Foundation. In addition to opening new pathways to featuring stories from the Evans Scholars community, all proceeds from the championship will continue to support the Foundation’s mission of awarding full tuition and housing college scholarships to deserving youth caddies.
