As we move toward the end of 2024 & beginning of a New Year, I am filled with gratitude for the opportunities this year has provided. The to visit Maui last December to support the community's recovery was a true honor. It has been incredible to assist in the healing process and to meet the remarkable individuals who serve the people of Maui. I also had a visit to Molokai in July and was thankful for the opportunities and learning that provided in deepening my experience and cultural learning. I am forever grateful and willing to continue being part of community recovery efforts in whatever ways may be needed. I 'd also like to announce the first consultant of Hawaiian heritage, Celina Larson. She is based in Idaho, but very happy to support the community via Consultation or groups (see bottom of this page for her contact info). I invite communities to reach out and let us know how trauma support can be helpful and made available for all. I am thankful for the opportunities that this year has provided and looking forward to the blessings of 2025.

The Native-focused Brainspotting community is expanding. Steve Sawyer, LCSW, and Regina Faridnia LCSW, conducted Phase I training in collaboration with the California Rural Indian Health Board (CRIHB) and the California Consortium for Urban Indian Health (CCUIH). A Native-focused Brainspotting training session occurred in August 2024, followed by another training with the Quartz Valley Indian Reservation in September. Next up, a Phase I training is scheduled at Quartz Valley Reservation in January 2025, and another Phase II session with CRIHB and CCUIH in February 2025.

We will have follow-up consultations after the Phase II trainings and hope that others from our prior Phase I and II trainings who are part of our Indigenous community (including Hawaii) and/or work in Native communities can join us.
