Introducing Kinder Mass!
We’re excited to introduce Kinder Mass, a new quarterly Sunday afternoon worship service geared toward elementary- and middle school-aged children and their families. Our first Kinder Mass will be Sunday, September 20 at 4 p.m., followed by a fellowship meal.
In the Anglican tradition, we believe that praying shapes believing—meaning that we learn about God and Jesus and grow in our faith by worshipping together, with all that worship entails: singing, praying, reading, and more.
While the primary focus of Kinder Mass is worship, it is also intentionally a learning time for children and families. The worship texts and music use simple words and repetitive formats, the sermons are conversational, and children take leadership roles alongside adults.
Rather than traditional Sunday School that pulls children out of worship, Kinder Mass anchors our children’s learning in worship, giving them a place to participate, learn, and grow in faith together.

Lend a Hand in the Memorial Garden
Tuesday, September 8, 9:00 a.m.–Noon
In anticipation of services for our beloved Jennifer Willard, there will be an opportunity to work together to ensure that the Memorial Gardens and surroundings she so enjoyed are at their best.
We will gather to do any edging, weeding, deadheading and pruning which are appropriate. Bring water, gloves, knee padding, pruning, weeding and edging tools. We may divide and relocate some perennials as well.
Our predicted rainfall is still short of the 1” per week we need to keep the new and replanted shrubs and Amanda’s tree healthy. Please check in with Joyce Cassidy if you can assist. Watering before 10:00 am is best — a perfect opportunity to enjoy the cooler temperatures and peaceful surrounds for about 45 minutes!

Calling All St. Bart's Creatives
Friday, September 11, 10–11:30 a.m.
It's almost time to shift from gardening to crafting! All are invited to bring your knitting, embroidery, crocheting, quilting, other craft, or just yourselves to St. Bart’s on Friday, September 11th, for creativity, conversation, and camaraderie.
In the past, prayer shawls and courage blankets were made for the pastoral care committee, as well as handmade items for the Christmas Fair. You also are welcome to bring a personal project or just come and visit. If you are looking for inspiration or to learn to knit or crochet, there are experienced crafters on hand and a basket of yarn and needles to start a new project. There also will be patterns and tips for creating prayer/courage blankets and shawls as well as other ideas.
Coffee, tea, and a sweet treat will be available.

St. Bart's Climate Action Committee
Climate Future Film Festival, Part 1
Sunday, September 13, 4–5:30 p.m.
| | |
As St. Bart’s marks the beginning of our celebration of the Season of Creation, the Climate Action Committee is offering the first of two Sunday afternoon gatherings on Sunday, September 13, to watch and discuss the films featured in the “Climate Future Film Festival,” a collection of ten short films from four continents that “explore the artistic and human response to climate change.”
The short films include animation, comedy, documentary, and drama; all are meant to engage our imaginations and to inspire conversation and community. We plan to meet from 4 to 5:30 with time both to watch and to talk about the films.
While we would ordinarily encourage you to bring guests with you, we are hoping that this can be an occasion for members of St. Bart’s to speak with one another about the issues related to climate change. (If we wish to, we could offer the films another time to a wider audience.)
We hope to see many of you September 13 at 4 pm for part one of the Film Festival!
In honor of Wendell Berry, Kentucky writer, farmer, conservationist who died earlier this week, we share some of his prophetic words:
We don’t have a right to ask whether we’re going to succeed or not.
The only question we have a right to ask is what’s the right thing to do?
What does the earth require of us if we want to continue to live on it?
