Adult Christian Education
A new Bible study class on the book of Hebrews will begin this Sunday, September 13.
The book, Hebrews: Access to God, will serve as our text and explain how the priests, the tabernacle, the Law, the sacrifices, and the entire Old Testament relate to Jesus. Hebrews unpacks the meaning of faith for people of God throughout history. The purpose of this class is to discuss questions about life, God and the Bible.
Led by volunteers, this class is open to everyone; you don't have to be a Bible expert. The format is informal discussion with a study guide. The class will meet from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the C.C.N.S. preschool classroom.

OPW Rummage Sale: September 24-26
We don’t offer to clean, clear out or sweep up.
We can offer a place for unwanted stuff.
We’re doing the same at our houses too.
Even the stuff we bought, last year,
From the sale we’ll give too.
We can’t take furniture, tread mills and such.
Used car seats and high chairs are unsafe and too much.
But, housewares, clothing, hand tools, and bedding,
Christmas trees and decor,
But, not things that are shedding.
Your gifts matter to us, and as a church family,
We thank you for giving your gifts without hammily. (It’s a real word)
| | |
OPW Rummage Sale drop offs start next week. Saturday,
September, 19 at 10:00 a.m., and go through Tuesday,
September 22, from 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.

Join Us for Sukkot at Beth Israel
Now only two weeks away, our neighbors at Beth Israel Congregation have warmly invited us to join them for the festival of Sukkot on Friday, September 25, at 7:00 p.m. This special evening commemorates God’s protection during the desert wanderings and offers a wonderful opportunity to deepen our interfaith connections. While the gathering is completely free to attend, advance registration is required to honor Beth Israel's security protocols and space limits. Attendance is capped at just 15 participants from our congregation, so we encourage you to reserve your spot today.

Bread Baking Adventure
How many ingredients do you really "knead" to make fresh bread?*
Join Pastor Lawrence and OPC friends on Saturday, October 3, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the Seminary for a hands-on "Baking Adventure" designed for everyone!
Together, we’ll mix dough, enjoy delicious taste-testing, and bake the communion loaves we will share in worship the following morning for World Communion Sunday.
Whether the answer is just four* simple ingredients or a few secret extras, you won't want to miss celebrating Jesus as the Bread of Life.

Fellowship Host
Hosting fellowship after church provides a valuable service to the congregation and is a great way to meet friends, old and new. Plus, it’s not a lot of work - you just need to pour drinks and greet people. Snacks are appreciated but not required. We have a need for hosts on Sundays, October 4, 11, 18 and 25.
Secret tip - OPC kids love healthy snacks.

A Call for Leaders
A key practice in the Presbyterian Church is to nominate and elect ruling elders, deacons, and trustees who lead us in bringing the mission of Christ’s church to life. The nominating committee seeks your recommendation for our next class of Oxford Presbyterian Church officers. Prayerfully consider active members of our church who are engaged, committed, and eager to serve as leaders in our mutual ministry. Please contact the office with your nominations for our future leaders.
Here I am, Lord? Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

Living into Hope
Love is at the root of everything
- all learning, all relationships
- love or the lack of it.
In times of trial,
when we choose love over fear,
we participate in God's healing of the world.
