Education and awareness are at the heart of our mission. We’re looking forward to our upcoming August 28 webinar focused on appendix cancer pathology, and announcing another on gynecologic cancers and peritoneal malignancy on October 9. Additionally, we're excited to share new resources on PIPAC and Comparing Intraperitoneal Chemotherapies treatment options. Of course, these are in addition to our August and September Abdominal Cancers Awareness Campaigns spreading the word about appendix cancer, ovarian cancers, and peritoneal mesothelioma - you can help us raise awareness and raise funds to support the cause!
We’re also highlighting the Alliance's patient navigation services,, which provide personalized support to help patients and caregivers find information, resources, and guidance throughout the cancer journey.
And to fuel all of this work, we’re looking forward to our 17th Annual Golf Outing and Helicopter Ball Drop, bringing our community together in support of patients, families, education, and research.
As summer winds down, we hope you've taken time for yourself and loved ones, and we invite you to share that love with this community so that no one facing an abdominal cancer has to navigate it alone.

| New Resources Available: PIPAC and Comparing Intraperitoneal Chemotherapies | | |
PIPAC
Learn about Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC), an emerging minimally invasive treatment that delivers chemotherapy directly into the abdominal cavity for certain patients with advanced cancers. This resource explains how PIPAC works, who may be eligible, summarizes the latest research, and highlights current clinical trials.
| | | |
Comparing Intraperitoneal Chemotherapies
There is no single way to deliver chemotherapy directly into the abdominal cavity. Standard intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), and pressurized intraperitoneal aerosol chemotherapy (PIPAC) all deliver chemotherapy directly to the abdominal cavity where cancers may spread. Each treatment differs in how the chemotherapy is delivered, when it is used, who may benefit, and the goals of treatment.

| New Technique May Help More Patients Receive PIPAC for Peritoneal Cancer | |
A new feasibility study found that ultrasound-guided progressive pneumoperitoneum (PPP) allowed patients with "non-accessible" abdomens to safely receive PIPAC, a treatment for peritoneal carcinomatosis. While only five patients were studied, all successfully underwent PIPAC without major complications, suggesting this technique may expand treatment options for selected patients.
