What is Provisional Camping?

Provisional Camping is the opportunity for a Scout to attend a week of summer camp without their home troop. Participants will be housed in tented sites with other Scouts from across the council. Leadership for these units are provided by older staff members. Scouts will have the same opportunities to earn merit badges and participate in programs as if they were with their troops or Scouts may participate in one of TMR's Specialty Camp Weeks! Scouts are welcome to attend as provisional campers during any week of the summer.

National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is a six-day, council-offered course that teaches Scouts, Venturers and Sea Scouts what they must know and do to be effective leaders in their units.

Youth, ages 13-20, benefit from the exciting program; it integrates modern leadership theory with the traditional strengths of Scouting. This isn’t a classroom training. Scouts experience hands-on activities, games, challenges, presentations and discussions. It’s a combination of work and play that resonates with youth.
