Greetings!

This edition of your SWWAP Newsletter shares a recap of last week's event, and previews of upcoming events, beginning tomorrow with the annual 🏳️‍🌈 PRIDE walk featuring Forward Marching Band followed by a candidate conversation with Sara Rodreguez at Brix Cider 🍎.

Thanks to all who welcomed the Unity Bus to Mount Horeb. Special thanks to our artists Zoe and Ella Gauger, who painted an iconic Mount Horeb image on the bus. MoHo was the first stop on the Building Unity Tour.

57th Assembly District Democratic Forum Link

Thank you to all who attended the Democratic State Senate District 17 candidate forum on June 10 at the New Glarus High School Auditorium. Though storms that day caused a lot of damage and left hundreds in the area without power, about 120 people braved the weather to hear the three primary candidates -- Corrine Hendrickson, Jenna Jacobson, and Lisa White -- answer questions that were submitted by local groups on Agriculture, Energy, Local Control, Education and Ideology.

Green County TV (GCTV) recorded the forum & released a video of some of the highlights: https://greencounty.tv/gctv-news-june-15-2026-democratic-state-senate-district-17-forum/

So, whether you missed the forum due to the weather or attended but are still deciding which of the candidates to support and vote for in the primary on August 11th, the GCTV video is an opportunity to learn more about the candidates! - Alpine Reading Club, New Glarus

"RISE UP, SING OUT" CONCERT

NOW ONLINE.

A powerful concert was held on Sunday evening, June 14. It was a mix of speeches and music all with one aim, advocacy for 1st Amendment rights. Millions across the country watched the simulcast live. If you missed this historic event, you can watch it with the link below.

SWWAP newsletters will feature a new series of videos highlighting America's first 250 years. The project is spearheaded by Heather Cox Richardson. The first video below features a short introduction to the series and the third video features one woman's courageous fight to establish restrictions on pesticide use in America. Yet another example of the power of an individual to effect positive change.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or if we wait for some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.” - Barack Obama

The following video highlights Walking Jim Stoltz singing "A Song for Rachel". Find a place to sing along.
