Greetings!
“We have seen incredible things today.” The onlookers in today’s Gospel witnessed Christ’s healing powers as he directed a man who was paralyzed to rise and walk. The season of Advent highlights our opportunities of encounter with the Lord.
Contrasted against the prophets of the Old Testament who yearned for the Messiah and prophesied his coming, how blessed are we who have the experience of receiving him in the Eucharist and knowing him in the people we serve. I take this for granted at times. The readings in this season of Advent remind us that there were generations who did not have this experience and who, nevertheless, kept the faith in anticipation of the anointed one’s arrival.
Let us continue to be seized with astonishment and struck with awe as we witness the miracles that surround us, both big and small, preparing for the birth of our Lord.
Faithfully,
Nicholas
