Quilter Curiosity | by Barbara Silvernail

I had the opportunity to meet with the women of the Quilting team to learn more about their ministry and their work for Lutheran World Relief. The quilts they create are distributed to children and families in 14 countries worldwide who have been displaced by natural disasters or conflicts. These quilts serve multiple purposes such as providing warmth, bedding, tents, and floor coverings, symbolizing hope and the presence of God's love. When I asked the ladies how many quilts they make, they humbly replied, "We don't keep count, we just keep sewing!" In 2023, over 194,000 quilts were distributed to 9 countries from distribution centers across the U.S., thanks to the dedicated members who transport these quilts to the centers. To our dedicated quilting team, thank you for generously sharing your skills to create these beautiful quilts that wrap our neighbors in God's love. Your work truly makes a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need around the world.
