Earthen Vessels Presentation
What a wonderful evening we experienced on October 18 as the Gospel of John came to life through a powerful presentation of drama, music, and discipleship!
Through the personal stories and testimonies of biblical characters who encountered Jesus, we were reminded of His life-changing love and the hope found in Him. With Christ at the center of every story, this unique production offered a meaningful opportunity to experience the Gospel in a new and inspiring way.
A special thank you to everyone who helped make this presentation possible and to all who joined us for this memorable evening of worship and reflection!
| | SUNDAY SCHOOL OPPORTUNITY | | |
Sunday School / Small Group Teaching Opportunity
As we continue to experience growth at Tabernacle, we need more teachers who are prepared to make disciples as we anticipate multiplying Sunday School classes to accommodate those whom God is sending our way. In particular, we are seeking capable teachers and passionate leaders for our College Ministry, as well as individuals who would like to serve alongside our existing Young Adult leadership to strengthen our Young Adult Ministry. If you have a heart for discipling the next generation, we'd love to talk with you! Additionally, if you have previous teaching experience and would be interested in serving as a substitute teacher or as a teacher-in-training in another area of our ministry, please reach out to stephen.allen@tabernacle.org for more information.
| | CHILDREN'S MINISTRY NEEDS | | | | |
Children's Ministry Needs
We are excited to see God bringing more children and families to our church each week! As our ministry continues to grow, we have a wonderful opportunity to share the love of Jesus and help children build a strong foundation of faith.
Currently, one of our greatest needs is for additional volunteers. We have enough children to open a new Sunday School class for three-year-olds, but we need teachers to make this possible! We also need more volunteers to support our Extended Teaching Care (ETC) ministry, so we can continue providing a safe and loving environment for our youngest children and those with special needs.
We are looking for helping hands in the following areas:
- Special Needs Ministry
- Extended Teaching Care (Nursery Workers) for babies through Kindergarten, and our special needs ministry
If you would like to volunteer in the children's ministry, please contact Crystal Gilley at crystal.gilley@tabernacle.org.

Ministry Team Spotlight: Carroll County Soup Kitchen
What does it look like when a community comes together to serve others? At the Carroll County Soup Kitchen, it looks like hot meals, bags of groceries, bread for families, and countless volunteers working together to meet the needs of our neighbors. The Carroll County Soup Kitchen serves a hot, wholesome meal every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, averaging approximately 230 meals each day. When food is available, guests are also provided with an additional bag of groceries to take home. The ministry's outreach extends beyond the Soup Kitchen. On the second and fourth Mondays of each month, volunteers deliver 10–12-pound bags of food to homebound individuals. Each bag typically includes meat, vegetables, a loaf of bread, a half-gallon of milk, and dessert. Approximately 300 deliveries are made through this ministry. Another important part of the Soup Kitchen's ministry is its Bread Team. Through a partnership with the Bimbo Bakery warehouse, the team receives and distributes bread and breakfast items—not only to the Soup Kitchen, but also to 21 additional organizations in our community. Each month, volunteers handle approximately 35,000 pounds of bread and breakfast items!
None of this would be possible without volunteers. Approximately 60 regular volunteers help make this ministry happen each month. They serve on hot meal teams, prepare and deliver food bags, and work with the Bread Team. At least 10 of these regular volunteers are members of Tabernacle Baptist Church including Thomas Arnold, Kelvin Graham, and Suzanne and Joe Ball pictured below. The Carroll County Soup Kitchen operates with 100% volunteer support, and its funding comes entirely through donations and grants. While the ministry receives food at a reduced cost through the Atlanta Community Food Bank, it does not receive government assistance. This is truly a community ministry—one that demonstrates God's love through something as simple and meaningful as a meal, a bag of groceries, or a loaf of bread. We are grateful for the many volunteers, donors, and community partners who make this ministry possible and for the opportunity for Tabernacle members to be part of it. Want to Get Involved? If you would like to learn more about volunteering with the Carroll County Soup Kitchen, contact Thomas Arnold at ThomasArnold1946@gmail.com or 770-361-6286. There is a place for you to serve!

Required Minimum Distributions
Did you know if you are required to take a minimum distribution (RMD) from your IRA, 401(k), or other tax-deferred retirement account, you can choose to direct those funds to the church through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)?
Instead of receiving the RMD as taxable income, you may transfer all or part of it—up to the annual IRS limit—directly to the church. This amount is then excluded from your taxable income. As a result, a QCD can help reduce your overall tax liability, potentially lessen the taxation of your Social Security benefits, and may help keep your income below thresholds that affect Medicare premiums. This is a meaningful and tax-wise way to support the church and its ministries. To learn more about Qualified Charitable Distributions, please go to IRS.gov and Congress.gov for details. For more information about starting a distribution for the church, please contact Lynn Weathington in the church office at 770-832-7063 or email lynn.weathington@tabernacle.org.
