Summer Family Worship "Room to Move"
During the summer, we encourage families to worship together at each of our services. Our Sunday School volunteers and Nursery workers are taking a well-deserved break. In both the Sanctuary and Worship Center, we provide crayons, coloring books, and activity bags for children. There are also quiet worship spaces in both the back of the Sanctuary and the Upper Room (room in back of balcony in the Worship Center) where families can sit while children play.
Everyone is welcome at DUMC — especially during the summer!

VBS - Thank you!
This week, 43 children, 24 youth, and 8 adults hit the road with God during DUMC’s VBS Road Trip! Our young travelers learned that no matter where life takes them, God is always by their side.
Throughout the week, they explored God’s love in fun and creative ways—crafting at the craft station, singing at the music station, discovering God’s creation at the science station, diving into Bible stories at storytelling, playing games at the recreation station, and enjoying delicious snacks at the snack station.
Join us for our VBS Celebration on Friday, July 18 at 5:30 pm! The evening will include a short performance, food, and a fun-filled foam party.
A heartfelt thank you to all of the amazing volunteers who shared their time and talents to make this week such a success. Interested in being part of the DUMC Kids community? Reach out to Wendy—we’d love to have you join us!

Lay Leader Insights:
LET IT GO
Do you feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Are you tired, overburdened, short-tempered, or stressed?
So many of us carry our problems around with us—concerns about family, finances, work, and the world. We may not even be aware how they are weighing us down until we intentionally set them down. Emotions like bitterness, envy, and unforgiveness often weave a vine that strangles our very soul. Psalm 43:5 asks, “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me?”

July Mission of the Month:
THE SYNERGY PROJECT
| | | |
July’s mission is The Synergy Project. Synergy is a street outreach program of Valley Youth House. They work with youth ages 24 and below. Synergy works directly on the street with homeless youth living in cars, on the street, couch surfing, or nomadically traveling the country via freight train. Some are runaways, while others may have been or still are trafficked.

DUMC Community Dinner
Wednesday, July 30, 6:00 pm
(Last Wednesday of each month)
DUMC will be hosting Community Potluck Dinners on the last Wednesday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. This will be a similar format to the Lenten Soup Suppers. However, the meal and theme will change monthly.
A SignUpGenius will be sent out prior to each meal, detailing what the meal is and what food will be needed. There will also be a signup sheet in the lobby. If you can contribute in any way, please sign up for July HERE.
If you have any questions or want to be on the planning committee, please reach out to Cindy Biehl.
We are looking forward to a fun event full of food and fellowship.
Hope to see you there!

THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who gave up their time and food to make Wednesday's CFF meal pack a success.
We packed 228 of our scheduled meal of chicken nuggets, corn, and applesauce.
We packed an additional 100 meals and 4 soups with the extra food received from Whole Foods. A huge thank you to Lisa Pitts who took the Whole Foods donations and made eggplant parmesan, mashed potatoes, and beef, rice, and broccoli. She also steamed a lot of veggies for our use.
As a result we had 328 meals and 4 soups delivered to the CFF warehouse on Thursday. Thank you to Carol and Fritz Amt for making this delivery.
This month, since they were already at church helping with VBS, we had 14 youth join us to pack the meals. They did a great job and we look forward to having them join us again in August.
Next month's meal has been changed to chili, frozen vegetables, and cornbread as we have a lot of ground meat from Whole Foods in the freezer to be used. Please help yourself to some of the meat on the top shelf of the CFF freezer to make the chili. Feel free to use any chili recipe you may have. If the meat you use is pork, we will need to know that to appropriately notate the lids. We will meet on Wednesday, August 20 at 12:45 pm.
I look forward to seeing you all again next month.
Best,
Cindy

Volunteer Opportunity - JR Leonard Foundation
The JR Leonard Foundation matches volunteer mentors with young adults coming out of the adoption system, becoming independent, and going to college. The mentors would act as coaches for life skills and college questions. They are also advocates for their youth, giving feedback to the foundation. It would be up to you to choose how to interact – limit it to phone calls, or meet for a meal, or even help on move-in day, and attend parent weekend. I do think you need to go into this willing to make a four-year commitment, but if the relationship doesn’t work at any time, you are free to end it. Click here to learn more, or contact Randy Hume or Andrew Phoffner directly.
Best Regards,
Randy Hume

Summer Hospitality Update
During the summer months, we'd like to give our regulars a break, but we will continue to have coffee and tea available each Sunday, as well as cool refreshments. This more relaxed time of year would be a great time for you to try this rewarding ministry. This is not at all difficult and we’re happy to train you! See our SignUpGenius or contact Cindy Betancourt in the church office.

Pocono Plateau - Thank you!
At the seasoned age of 74, I had the joy of joining my granddaughter this summer at Pocono Plateau. We were accompanied by Missy Smith and her children, along with 80 energetic kids from all over.
From the moment we arrived on Sunday and met our campers, the week was filled with adventure and connection. Over the next six days, we enjoyed fishing, swimming, rock climbing, archery, slingshotting, the low ropes course, and Chapel, where we were surrounded each day by the beauty of God’s creation. Each evening, we gathered for devotionals around the fire on the vista—an unforgettable setting for reflection and faith.
Campers cooked their own lunches at their campsites, and we shared some truly memorable snacks together. To my delight, the kids welcomed me with open arms and affectionately nicknamed me “The GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time—for those who may need the translation!).
It was a true gift to spend this time planting seeds of God’s love in the hearts of our youth. We explored not only His love for us, but also for the world He’s given us.
As for me, I received a gift beyond words: the experience of my very first trip to Pocono Plateau made all the more special by sharing it with such a spirited and loving group. I encourage anyone who can to spend time with the next generation, whether through programs here at DUMC or up on the mountain at Pocono Plateau. The impact is lasting, for them and for us.
A heartfelt thank you to Carmen and the entire Pocono Plateau staff for making this experience possible.
-Paul Mattina
