Toddler Program
Toddler Transition finished up OWL Unit 3 and has started OWL Unit 4 “The World of Color”. We have been working on AB patterns, 1-3 correspondences, color mixing, and cause and effect. We are learning about primary colors and how to mix primary colors to make new colors. The children are working on story recall and story discussions. We are focusing on Dogs Colorful Day and exploring cause and effect. We are asking questions like “How did Dog get the yellow spot on his coat?”, “What happened to all of Dog’s spots when he took a bath?”, “Why did the black spot not wash off?”.  We are looking forward to doing our Easter crafts and Easter egg color matching hunt!

Toddler Green room started Unit 4 of OWL “The World of Color”. The children are working on color sorting our fruits and vegetables into their colored baskets, they love this! We have started to read Cats Scribbles and Dos Colorful Day. We are looking forward to doing Easter Crafts and our Easter Egg Hunt in the school playground!

Toddler Blue room started OWL Unit 4 “The World of Color”. The children are learning about primary colors and making new colors by mixing them. We are exploring color mixing with some shaving cream, water, and paint activities. The children have been working on doing collaborative work, copying hand movements for our songs and poems, as well as color sorting. We are working on color sorting with our fruit and vegetable baskets, colored stickers to colored paper, and our favorite color hunts! We are looking forward to our Easter Egg hunt! The children will find mismatched color eggs and match them to their matching color.
Pre K-1
Pre K-1 started Owl Unit 4: World of Colors. This month we learned about primary colors and how to mix the primary colors to make new colors. We read Dog’s Colorful Day, Cat’s Colors, Scribble Stones, Monster’s Love Colors and Color Monster. We also have been learning about AB patterns and recycling. As it has been getting nicer out we have been getting outside has much as possible and can’t wait to do so much more outside in the following weeks.
Pre-K 2
We’re On Unit #4 ,World Of Color. We read the book A Color Of His Own. After the story, I asked them, "if you were a chameleon what color would you like to be?" so they drew a picture of a chameleon and the color they would be. These kids love colors!
Pre-K 3
In Pre-K 3, we are finishing our OWL Unit 4 on colors. In Literacy, we have been matching upper case and lower case letters and writing upper case and lower case letters. We have been busy using our Fundation Letter Sounds learning sounds for letters A-M. In Math, we are continuing to learn AB and ABC patterns, counting a group of objects and matching it the correct numeral, and writing numbers 0-10. In Art, the children have painted with primary colors and made collages using fruit, flowers, and vegetables. We made St. Patrick Day crafts, and are currently working on Easter Crafts. In honor of St. Patrick’s Day we wore green, had a St. Patrick’s breakfast, and a party in the afternoon. We are excited that Spring is here and we can get outside to enjoy the warm weather!!!
K-1
This month in K1, scholars have been hard at work analyzing objects to compare length, weight, and volume. Scholars have been measuring real life objects in our classroom and directly comparing them to one another, and identifying which object has “more of”/”less of” and describing the difference. We have had a lot of fun measuring and comparing crayons, glue sticks, toy cars, even our own feet! We are working on perfecting our measurement practice by attending to precision when we measure. This means that when we measure our objects, we make sure that the tool we use directly lines up with the start of the object.
K-2
The lucky learners of K2 have been doing an awesome job in the month of March!! They celebrated St Patrick’s Day by reflecting on what they feel lucky about, using STEM materials to plan and build a leprechaun trap, and by completing Lucky Charms marshmallow math challenges! They rocked out with their instruments made in Art with Mr. Christian, and have been enjoying the warmer weather outside recently! K2 scholars have been super flexible doing a great job learning with Mr. Christian and Ms. Ashley in the classroom while meeting with Mrs. Lee on Zoom, and are working hard to be good friends to their classmates. Keep it up K2!
Grade 1
Fabulous in First

Hello from Fabulous First Grade.  Here we spend our time in March building up our vocabulary and fluency.  To help us achieve our goals, we did a Reader’s Theater about Lucky the Leprechaun.  Each day we spent time working together.  This combined effort builds up fluency with sight words along with learning to listen to what is being read.  The students need to be ready to read their part when the previous character is finished in order to produce a smooth story.  We take the time to first practice echo reading the play so that each of us has read every single word.  Then we had a discussion over which characters we would like to be.  (If there is a part that two students want, we then have a rock, paper, scissor to settle it.  This gives them ownership and active participation.)
So that audience understands who will be reading each part, each student made a sign that was attached to their play to display during the final reading.  They collaborated and designed their signs while working together.
The final product can be viewed on our St. Peter Academy YouTube channel.
Grade 2
The second grade students have been working incredibly hard to build and mark multisyllabic words with vowel teams and r-controlled vowels! They have mastered when to use the r-controlled vowels ar and or and the vowel teams ay and ai. We are still learning when to use the r-controlled vowels er, ir, ur (they all make the same sound!) and the vowel teams ee and ea! These differences are tricky but they are doing a fantastic job! Check out the super challenge word that they spelled and marked: entertainment! It contains 4 syllables, an r-controlled vowel, a vowel team and a suffix!
Grade 3/4
Grades 3/4 have been learning about electricity.  In this lesson, students are introduced to electricity as a form of energy. In the activity, Build a Flashlight, students investigate how electrical energy requires a circuit and make their own mini flashlights from LEDs, button batteries, and strips of aluminum foil. Along the way, they learned about the anatomy of a battery, began to see how circuits work, and discovered how handy an on-off switch can be.
