One Big Day. Countless Birds.

Love birds and birding? You're in luck! It's almost time for the "October Big Day," happening Saturday, Oct. 10.

For the fifth year in a row, land trusts across the state are offering Big Day outings. Indiana Audubon's birding guides will once again lead hikes at nature preserves statewide. We're pleased to team up with Indiana Audubon and Indiana Land Protection Alliance on this event.

We return to Betley Woods at Glacier's End for this much-anticipated outing. Our guide will be expert birder Mike Clay.

Make this the year you take part in the global birding celebration. Your observations will help fuel migration research and conservation efforts!

Space is limited, so register soon for our guided walk, or find one near you!

Where: Betley Woods at Glacier's End, Trafalgar

When: 9am Saturday, Oct. 10

Cost: $5

RSVP: Sign up on Audubon's page here.

Thanks to your generosity, places like Betley Woods provide safe haven for birds and other wildlife. Donate today to help us protect even more nature!

The Impact of Forested Wetlands

The Indianapolis Star recently interviewed our president, Cliff Chapman, on the impact of forested wetlands during flood events. Oliver's Woods is shown during the height of recent flooding.

Reforesting Land to Benefit Endangered Bats

Cliff also gave an interview for a Statehouse File story on efforts to help endangered Indiana bats. At left, volunteers plant trees in Wallace F. Holladay Preserve, which recently expanded.
