| | | Necessity Pantry Ingathering tomorrow | | |
Proverbs 28:27
He who gives to the poor will never want
Tomorrow is our monthly ingathering for the Necessity Pantry. The pantry provides personal care items for individuals and families in financial stress.
Always needed items include shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, disposable razors, shaving cream, bath soap, lotion, deodorant, laundry detergent, toilet paper and feminine hygiene and incontinence products. Cash donations are also gratefully accepted.
The Necessity Pantry is a cooperative ministry supported by the Church of the Resurrection in Blue Springs, St. Anne’s in Lee’s Summit, Trinity and St. Michael’s in Independence, and St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence.
St. Michael's has let us know they would like to gift to their clients at Christmas time small freebies (like colorful stamps, dreamcatchers, notepads without your name on them, etc.) that you receive in the mail from charities. There will be a small basket in the Narthex for your contributions!

| | | Play Lent Madness on-line | | |
Learn about our Saints
Lent Madness is a fun, engaging way to learn about the Church’s Calendar of Saints. Play anytime!
Visit lentmadness.org to fill out your bracket for a chance to win the “Golden Halo!” And it's free!
The format is straightforward: 32 saints are placed into a tournament-like single elimination bracket. Each pairing remains open for a set period of time and people vote for their favorite saint. 16 saints make it to the Round of the Saintly Sixteen; eight advance to the Round of the Elate Eight; four make it to the Faithful Four; two to the Championship; and the winner is awarded the coveted Golden Halo.
The first round consists of basic biographical information about each of the 32 saints. Things get a bit more interesting in the subsequent rounds with quotes and quirks, exploring of legends, and saintly kitsch.
This last week, Mechthild of Magdeburg swept to victory over Ninian 66% to 34% to advance to the Saintly Sixteen!
