SNMA RECAP:

Where Connections Begin

We recently gathered with future leaders at our SNMA Mixer & Panel, bringing together students, residents, and neurosurgeons in one room.

With 45–50 attendees, the energy was undeniable.

From meaningful conversations to real-time mentorship, the event reflected the power of intentional spaces designed to support and uplift the next generation. This is just the beginning.

We’re bringing that same energy—and even more—to AANS weekend!

Neurosurgery | NMA 2026

July 25-29th

On behalf of the American Society of Black Neurosurgeons (ASBN), we are pleased to share that Dr. Nnenna Mbabuike, past president and ASBN cofounder, will be serving as the Neurology & Neurosurgery Section Lead at the 2026 National Medical Association (NMA) Annual Convention & Scientific Assembly in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

In this role, Dr. Mbabuike will be leading efforts to strengthen neurosurgical engagement within the section and to develop a program that reflects a renewed focus on innovation, collaboration, and interdisciplinary care across neurology and neurosurgery.

Centered on Innovation & Collaboration, this year’s theme highlights advancements in neuroscience and the impact of neurology and neurosurgery working together. A key feature is tandem talks, where experts from both fields share aligned perspectives—reflecting today’s collaborative approach to patient care.

We are excited to share this year’s Neurology & Neurosurgery Section programming, including both the full section agenda and the Don H. Wood, MD Trainee Research Forum:

Conference Dates: July 25–29, 2026 | San Juan, Puerto Rico

  • Neurology & Neurosurgery Section Programming

July 27–29

Morning and afternoon sessions will feature specialty-specific topics across neurology and neurosurgery, with a focus on innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Speakers will receive a reduced conference registration rate for day of presentation
