Raynham Police & Fire Departments: Saving Lives!

"Police Chief David LaPlante and Fire Chief Bryan LaCivita report that the Raynham Police and Fire Departments recently rendered life-saving aid on two separate occasions.

Raynham Police officers and Raynham firefighters are credited with saving the lives of two people suffering from medical emergencies on Jan. 4 and 5, 2025.

'The actions of the Raynham Police officers involved in both of these life-saving situations exemplify our department’s mission and core values,' Chief LaPlante said. 'Patrolwoman Amanda Wong and Patrolman Daniel Fitch used their training and expertise to make a difference in the lives of these two patients, and I commend them for their commitment to serving the people of Raynham.'

'I am proud to recognize the Raynham Fire personnel who responded to these medical episodes,” Chief LaCivita said. 'The positive outcome for both of these incidents was largely due to the great teamwork exhibited by Raynham Fire and Police.'"

Industry Growth in Raynham

"In 1840 there was an increase in industry in Raynham with the opening of the railroad from Boston to New Bedford. The railroad station was in N. Raynham, and in later years of the trolleys, a large trestle was built over the railroad tracks on Broadway.

Around the same time, shoe shops, tack factories, and a box factory were added to the existing ironworks and mills."

Climate Can-Do: Help Generate Less Winter Waste!

After the white snow engulfs much of the green around us, there are still ways to have a positive impact on the environment. Here are some precautions you can take to waste less and emit less pollution this winter season:

  • Bring a reusable mug: reduce plastic waste by checking out which local coffee shops will fill your clean, personal mug. Some shops even offer small bring-your-own-cup discounts.

  • Reduce your use of chemical deicers like salt: Salt may melt away ice on roads, but it also introduces harmful chemicals into bodies of water, including sources of drinking water. Try mixing a smaller amount of salt with sand to help to increase friction.

  • Turn your thermostat down a few degrees: Waste less energy and save on your power bill. Chilly? Keep an extra layer of clothes handy and keep your blinds and curtains open during the day to let sunlight warm your home. If your home feels drafty, arrange a free home energy assessment from Mass Save. (We all contribute to this fund in our electric bill.)

Stay warm this winter and look for small ways you can have a positive impact on our environment!

Compassion

“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” ~ Plato

“No one has ever become poor by giving.”

~ Anne Frank

“Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.” ~ Dalai Lama XIV

“Some people think only intellect counts: knowing how to solve problems, knowing how to get by, knowing how to identify an advantage and seize it. But the functions of intellect are insufficient without courage, love, friendship, compassion, and empathy.” ~ Dean Koontz

"My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style." ~ Maya Angelou

"I have just three things to teach: simplicity, patience, compassion. These three are your greatest treasures." ~ Lao Tzu

Without compassion for ourselves & others, this world will swallow us whole. Know your needs and take care of them. (In airline speak: Put your own oxygen mask on first.) AND be quick to forgive others.

These days we all need more: more self-love AND more grace from each other.

Compassion my dear friends, compassion ~ Jacquie
