COMMISSIONERS COURT - October 21, 2025

MIDLAND COUNTY FAIR

The court heard a report on the 2025 Midland County Fair. This year marked the first year in the 15-year history of the fair that it was held over four days, beginning on a Thursday. Fair Executive Director Bo Zertuche reported near-record attendance of nearly 25,000 visitors enjoyed activities including a concert series, livestock shows, family attractions and more. Preliminary estimates showed an economic impact of close to $2 million.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

The court approved the Sheriff's Office contract with One Community USA, which is a non-profit that assists former inmates reentering the public to assist them in becoming good citizens.


The Sheriff also shared with the court that this year's Halloween at the 'Shoe event attracted more than 3,000 people and 17 vendors.

ROAD & BRIDGE

The court approved a contract to repair and repave roads in the area just south of Highway 80 between Industrial Loop and Clark Street.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The court approved entering into an agreement with the City of Midland, City of Odessa, and Ector County to establish the Permian Basin Radio Communications Committee, which will enable public safety agencies from the four entities to have interoperable radio communications. The County's share is covered by the approved IT department budget.

VETERANS DAY PARADE

The court approved county's participation in this year's Veterans Day Parade which will take place in Midland Saturday, November 8. The County will be represented by a float in the parade which is being organized by the Midland Veterans Partnership. The Midland County Sheriff's Office will also be participating

LIBRARY

The court approved a start date for Debbie Colson, who was approved as the county's new library director at the last commissioners court. Mrs. Colson will begin Thursday, October 23. She has previously served in Midland ISD as the librarian at LHS for the past 10 years.


COURT SCHEDULE

The next regularly scheduled Commissioners Court will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Meetings are held in the Commissioners Court, on the first floor of the Midland County Courthouse, located at 500 N. Loraine St. The meeting is livestreamed at the county website, co.midland.tx.us. Agendas, minutes, and recordings of previous meetings may also be found on the website.
