NEWS & UPDATES
Gainey Foundation Continues to Support Environmental Education
Thanks to the Gainey Foundation for providing another generous donation to the Camp Kawartha Environment Centre. The Environment Centre would not be the success it is today without the Foundation’s ongoing and wonderful support.
These funds will enable us to expand our nature playscapes, help us deliver more award-winning programming for students of all ages and assist local schools in establishing pollinator gardens (in partnership with Otonabee Conservation).

The Environment Centre is one of Canada’s most sustainable buildings and its many features are practical examples of how we can live more sustainably.

Board of Directors: Volunteers Needed
Camp Kawartha is seeking applications from those community members interested in sitting on our dynamic and progressive Board of Directors for a minimum 3-year term.
In addition to the standard roles and responsibilities of Board membership, our Board Members are active advocates and ambassadors for the Camp and are fully engaged in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for us to advance our mission. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Board Chair, Jason Huffman.
Can You Help?
The Surf ‘n’ Turf is our major fundraiser for the year, and we put a lot of effort into making it one of the best events in the region. The food is absolutely fantastic, and this keeps guests returning year after year.
The auction items attract a good deal of attention as well and we love always having those unique items that make ‘shopping’ such a delight!

You can help us make this another stand-out event.
Do you have cottage you could donate for a week; or are you a chef supreme and are willing host a dinner for four; or you fly and could provide a plane ride around the area – these would be wonderful additions to our auctions.

If you have an idea for a package that you would like to offer for the auctions , please contact Susan at philanthropy@campkawartha.ca or 705.652.3860.
Do Not Disturb!
Please resist the urge to clean up your gardens until after temperatures are consistently above 10⁰C. Many butterflies, bees and other pollinators ar e currently overwintering in the dead leaves and hollowed out stems of last year’s plants. If you clean out your garden now, you will literally be throwing away this year’s butterflies, bees and other beneficial pollinators.
The Canoe Floated!
Our annual contest, It’s Spring When the Canoe Floats, was popular again this year, and we received dozens of guesses about the spring thaw on Clear Lake.

The winner this year is Steph who is the lucky recipient of a Camp Kawartha ball cap, courtesy of our Gift Shop. Thank you to everyone who guessed, there were many of you close but the canoe floated freely on April 18th.
