LC Girls' Volleyball Wins PCL Championship!

Congratulations to the LC Girls' Volleyball Team who won the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) Championship this Thursday after sweeping Archbishop Ryan 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-17). The team is led by Head Coach Rachael Silhanek, who also serves as LC's Assistant Principal for Student Services, along with assistant coaches Patty Heckler and Kathy Arnow.

With 18 members schools in the PCL and eight fall sports offered, LC has now won 1/4 of the PCL Championships this season, Girls' Tennis and Girls' Volleyball. As one of the smaller schools in the PCL, this is something we should be incredibly proud of. Tennis beat Cardinal O'Hara (with about 400 more students than LC), and Vball beat Archbishop Ryan (with about 300 more students than LC). Congratulations, Crusaders, and best wishes in the state tournament!

Please enjoy this beautiful short video of the PCL win from LC's own Alex Martinez '26. It truly captures the spirit of the supportive LC student body and the energy of the evening. (Click Unmute.)

Happy Halloween, Lansdale Catholic!

LC's Class of 2027 dressed in costumes for Halloween and trick or treated during lunches on Friday. Thanks to all who helped make this LC tradition so much fun.

The seniors also decorated their cars and held a Trunk or Treat for the first and second graders at Mater Dei on Thursday.

This week, LC welcomed our first guest in the new Alumni Speaker Series, Julie Huber '22 (St. Jude)! Julie visited several theology classes to present about her post-high school journey and experiences, and she shared moving stories about her impactful work serving the city's homeless community.

While at the University of Dayton, Julie spent the summer of 2024 with Christ in the City, a mission program based in Philadelphia. The mission did not leave her heart or mind throughout her college years. Upon graduating with a degree in sociology in the spring, Julie returned to Christ in the City, where she continues to encounter the Lord each day through her work with the poor. LC is so proud of Julie and grateful for the time she shared with our current student community.

Thank you to Mrs. Gina Kelly from the LC Advancement Office for coordinating the Alumni Speaker Series!

Blessing and Dedication Ceremony for Baseball Dugouts
in Loving Memory of Patrick L. Dougherty '18

Last Saturday, October 24th, more than 100 family members, team members, friends, faculty, staff, and LC supporters had gathered on the LC baseball field for the blessing and dedication of the newly-constructed Patrick L. Dougherty dugouts. Patrick, a 2018 LC graduate, was a valued and talented member of LC’s baseball team, a great friend to many while an LC student, and the brother of Nolan Dougherty ’17.

Rev. David Friel, Director of Liturgy at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, joined us on the field to perform the blessing. After words of gratitude and a warm welcome from President Meghan Callen and Athletic Director BJ Hogan, Nolan gave a heartfelt tribute to his brother and thanked the many gathered to remember Patrick and support the project. The construction of the dugouts was made possible through the generosity, dedication, and hard work of Patrick’s family and friends, who raised funds to make a lasting contribution to the LC baseball program. Their efforts made this incredible campus improvement possible, creating a meaningful and lasting tribute to Patrick and his family.

Thank you most especially to BJ Hogan for all of the time he spent planning and executing this special project, working with the closely connected donors, and contracting with vendors to create such a lasting memory in honor of Patrick. We are so grateful.

Prayer Intentions

We invite the LC Family to join us in prayer for the happy repose of the soul of John Convey (Father of Andrew Convey '27) and Michael Taber (Grandfather of Luke Mongan & Grayson Markley). We pray for the comfort and peace of both families at this time. Eternal rest grant unto John and Michael, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace.

Let us also pray for the health and healing of Sister Kathleen Klarich, RSM (LC Guidance Department), Anthony Giampa (Father of Addie Giampa), Tamara Coville, and Mary Ellen Accardi.
