This is just business as usual for this wine:
Do you have your seatbelt on?? This near-perfect stunner from Washington's newest King of 100 Point Cult Syrah will blow you away.

You're likely familiar with Charles Smith from his seriously super-value Cs Substance, or his other multiple Wine Spectator Top 100 winners... but his epic K Vintners label is his crown jewel. Quick background on the Eccentric Winemaker:

After living the rock and roll life in Napa and then owning his own wine shop in Seattle, Charles Smith founded K Vintners in 1999. Growing from 330 cases of Syrah in that initial vintage to an internationally recognized and awarded winery with accolades of over 100 x 95 point scores and over 400 x of 90 or more for his wine, Charles Smith is a Washington Wine Power house.

A self-taught winemaker, Charles is a true artisan and a pioneer in the wine world. In 2008, his winery was recognized by Wine & Spirits magazine as one of the "Best New Wineries of the Last Ten Years," and as "Winery of the Year" in their annual buying guide. He has been named "Winemaker of the Year" In 2009 by Food & Wine magazine, in 2010 by Seattle Magazine, and in 2014 by Wine Enthusiast magazine. In the top tier of producers in Washington State, Charles Smith fashions singular, exotic wines that never lack for richness or texture.

About the 2017 Vintage in Washington:

2017 was a fantastic year for making wine with a cool spring and a fair amount of rain. Washington had an ideal spring for healthy vines. The moderate temperatures during summer were perfect for small clusters and yet delayed veraison into the fall where we had a consistent ripening season that allowed us to hang the fruit for perfect tannin and flavor without losing acidity or acquiring too much alcohol. Overall it was a vintage to remember.

This delicious Syrah is an absurd value and is a seamless celebration of Washington wine. There's only 41 bottles left which will be gone shortly!

Cheers,

"The Hidden - Northridge Vineyard" Syrah
Wahluke Slope, Washington

98 Points, #75 Top 100 of 2020 - James Suckling:
"Happy to see it finer-grained than some, but equally intense. Tobacco, ash and dark fruit. Some grilled meat, too. Full-bodied with a spice, white-pepper and hunan finish. Wow is all I can say! Drink or hold." - (November 16, 2020)

97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"Coming from a mix of clones and the Northridge Vineyard (which is a high-density planting), the 2017 Syrah The Hidden was not destemmed and was brought up 20 months in 55% new puncheons. Deep ruby/purple, with killer minerality in its black cherry and currant fruits as well as notes of beef blood, violets, spiced meats, and spring flowers, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, beautiful elegance and purity, fine tannins, and a great finish." - Jeb Dunnuck (4/15/2020)

96 Points - Wine Advocate:
"Beginning with a dusty rigidity on the nose, the 2017 Syrah The Hidden Northridge Vineyard has a firm core of black fruits, blackberry, dark plum and dark cherry skin with hints of black pepper and dried purple flowers. Medium to full-bodied, the wine is still firm with grippy tannins that will loosen with age, and it ends with a tannic grip and elements of worn leather and bitter black tea. Stellar!" -AM (12/2020)

94 Points - Vinous:
"Good full, dark red. Musky raspberry, smoke, minerals, dried herbs and potpourri on the complex, inviting nose. Sweet and silky on the palate, and quite refreshing for such a structured wine. The impression of inner-mouth energy is accented by a suggestion of orange zest. (The pH is a relatively high 3.95, according to winemaker Brennon Leighton, but total acidity is sound.) More about dark raspberry, spices and flowers than game. Most impressive in the early going on the very fresh, rising, floral finish, which shows the tannic support (the serious dusty tannins reach the front teeth) for a slow evolution in bottle. This is Washington Syrah in the style of Côte-Rôtie. Impressive!" - Stephen Tanzer (12/2020)
