The University Hills pedestrian and bike trail to the campus core is now open adjacent to the Area 12-1 project! This 8-foot-wide concrete walk runs along the eastern edge of Area 12, terminating at the Engineering Service Road signal and crosswalk at East Peltason.
The new trail will allow for safe and direct travel for pedestrians and bikers to the campus core. As shown on the map below, the new trail can be accessed through Los Trancos Park. Any of the sidewalks that connect to Los Trancos Park will lead to this new pedestrian and bike trail. If you are biking north on Los Trancos Drive (downhill towards the campus core), you can join the new trail at the Los Trancos Pool parking lot where the bike lane now ends.
A second 8-foot-wide pedestrian and bike trail running parallel to Los Trancos Drive will open by the end of 2025. Until then, ICHA encourages pedestrians to use the new path or the westerly sidewalk on Los Trancos Drive. There is a lot of construction equipment, deliveries, and workers on the east side of Los Trancos and it can be a dangerous place for bikers and pedestrians.
Please use caution walking, biking and driving on Los Trancos Drive as construction continues through the end of 2025. Noise, activity, and debris are expected through the end of the year. Using alternate routes into and out of University Hills is recommended (see below).
Thank you for your patience.
