November 2026

From The Directors Desk

Dear Woodbury,

We are reaching the end of spooky season, and that leads us into November, which makes me think about more of this fall weather and Thanksgiving. We have had a lovely fall season so far and I hope that continues. As much as I love the winter weather, I’m not quite ready for that level of cold.

Things are busy as usual here at Parks and Recreation. On Halloween we will be hosting Trunk or Treat again in Hollow Park, and we are looking forward to seeing all of the families come out in costume. I also want to thank all of the trunkers that volunteer to decorate their vehicles and hand out candy at the event. I am always amazed at all of the costumes and displays that people come up with, and it makes me really appreciate this community.

November will bring the introduction of some new programs, as well as preparations for the holiday season that is right around the corner. We are asking our community to help support the tree lighting coming up, so we need helpers for Santa, and we need ornaments for our tree. Please find more information on these holiday opportunities below.

Please explore everything we have to offer this month. With daylight savings coming up and days getting colder, the outdoor opportunities will get more limited so take advantage while you still can. This month I’m looking forward to getting some more crisp fall days and getting to spend time with family and friends for Thanksgiving. As you spend time with your loved ones, take a moment to be grateful for these opportunities and appreciate them as much as you can. I know I will.

Sincerely,

Graham Musson

WPR Instructor Highlight - Say Hello to Moe Pershinsky

Moe is Woodbury resident, avid sewist, and lifelong crafter who loves sharing her creativity and skills with others. She has experience creating a wide variety of handmade projects, from clothing and accessories to quilts, home décor, and gifts, and regularly participates in local craft shows and flea markets.

With years of experience working with people, teaching, and organizing, she pays attention to the little details that make learning something new feel approachable and rewarding.

Moe believes sewing is a skill that anyone can learn, regardless of age or experience level. Her classes are designed to be relaxed, encouraging, and hands-on, with students learning practical sewing techniques while creating projects they can be proud to take home.

After recently returning to Connecticut and settling in Woodbury, she is excited to become more involved in her community and share her love of sewing and crafting through Woodbury Parks & Recreation.

We're excited to welcome Moe to our team of instructors at Woodbury Parks & Recreation!

Ready to sew with Moe? Join her for one of our upcoming beginner-friendly workshops! Create a festive Holiday Stocking on November 21 or a Winter Table Runner on December 13.

Looking ahead to January, Moe will be offering two new six-week sewing programs: Sewing Basics for adults and Sew Together for adults and children. Each class features a different hands-on project, so participants will leave every class with a completed project they made themselves!
