Dr. Zoe Blumenthal will be joining the SSM Health Dean Urology practice here in Madison.


Dr. Arighno Das is continuing his training as a Urologic Oncology fellow at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.


Dr. Ali Ghasemzadeh is also continuing his training as a Urologic Oncology fellow at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY.

Kristin Ebert, MD invited to speak at University of Alabama and served as panelist at Spina Bifida Clinical Care Meeting

Dr. Kristin Ebert was an invited speaker at the University of Alabama's Department of Pediatrics Grand Rounds. Her presentation was titled "Navigating the Journey: Enhancing Transitional Care for Patients with Congenital Conditions." In addition, Dr. Ebert spent time shadowing in their urology and adult spina bifida clinics. The visit facilitated learning from each other's experiences and knowledge on transitional care.


Dr. Ebert also served as a panelist on "Transitional Care: What's Happening in Urology" at the Spina Bifida Clinical Care Meeting in Birmingham, AL.

UW Urology's Simulation Education Program completed inaugural neobladder lab

Kyle Richards, MD, FACS, and Frank Lin, MD, MS, proctored the UW Department of Urology Simulation Education Program's inaugural neobladder simulation lab last month.


Utilizing Dr. Richards' expertise in neobladder creation, he and Dr. Lin created an instructional step-by-step video, outlined a surgical algorithm for the procedure, and conducted a hands-on creation with porcine small intestine.

RECENT EVENTS

UW Urology hosted Two Endowed Visiting Professor Lectures this Spring

The Dr. David Paolone Men's Health Visiting Professor lecture was held on April 15, 2025. It featured Dr. Mohit Khera, a professor and director of the Laboratory for Andrology Research at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Khera, an expert in male infertility, sexual dysfunction, and testosterone therapy, discussed advancements in these areas.

The 2025 Robert F. Schnoes Lecture took place on May 20, 2025, with speaker Dr. Mohammad E. Allaf, a distinguished urologist and Professor of Urology at Johns Hopkins University and Director of the Department of Urology at the Johns Hopkins Brady Urological Institute. Speaking on his 20 years in practice, Dr. Allaf presented: "Changing Practice from the OR: The Power of Surgeon-Led Clinical Trials."

Medical Students join UW Urology for Summer Research and Mentorship

The UW Urology education team is thrilled to welcome first-year medical students from the UW School of Medicine and Public Health who will be joining us this summer to conduct research with Urology facutly through the Shapiro Summer Research Program.

Further, we are pleased to host two PROSPECT Summer Research Fellows. Sponsored by the North Central Section (NCS) of the American Urological Association (AUA), the PROSPECT program aims to inspire more medical students to pursue careers in urology by providing early exposure to the field through mentorship, clinical and research experiences, and match preparation support.
