Introducing the

Leadership Mobile Class of 2027

In late September, we welcomed the newest members of Leadership Mobile to our Mobile United family! The Class of 2027 is a small, but mighty team of 26 who jumped right into their retreat, exercises and theme with vigor, excitement and a willingness to participate in the civic process. The Dean, a Leadership Mobile Class of 2023 graduate, LaSheryl Dotch, has chosen the theme: The Blueprint of Belonging: Building Equity Through Civic Excellence.

LaSheryl is tapping into her extensive legal experience to guide the class in deliberative dialogue throughout our year together and inviting them to discuss relevant topics that demonstrate our city's unique challenges and opportunities. We look forward to seeing how the class translates those conversations into action, and serves Mobile in the unique ways that our programming does!

Attorney LaSheryl M. Dotch, Esq., brings more than 15 years of experience in Alabama’s judicial system, a deep love for her hometown of Mobile, and a genuine passion for developing the next generation of community leaders to her role as Class Dean of Leadership Mobile 2026–2027.

Born and raised in Mobile, LaSheryl is a proud graduate of Murphy High School. She went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration from Auburn University before returning home to attend Faulkner University’s Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where she earned both her Juris Doctor and a Legal Masters (LL.M.) in Alternative Dispute Resolution & Trial Advocacy. She is licensed to practice law in Alabama, Texas, and Georgia, and has spent her career working within the Alabama Circuit Court System across civil, criminal, and domestic relations matters.

She currently serves as Assistant City Attorney–Revenue for the City of Mobile’s Legal Department, where she counsels the city’s revenue department, drafts and negotiates contracts and ordinances, and represents the City in civil litigation and administrative proceedings.

Mark your calendars and join us on Monday, November 23rd, for the Connect Mobile Class of 2026's project presentation and graduation sponsored by Alabama Power. After four months of programming, the team chose to work with the Samuel Edward Theater Company. The Company, which hosts classes for students both inside and outside schools, also hosts adult acting lessons in preparation for productions. The Class has opted to work with Executive Director, Japonica Brown, as she is a staff of one and needs help with her rebrand and restructure of the organization. The project gives our burgeoning leaders the ability to utilize and expand their skills in service of the organization and to the arts throughout Mobile.

Please join us from 6-7:30 p.m. inside Innovation Portal to learn about how they've used their considerable time and talents to expand the reach and mission of the Theater Company. If you will be joining us, PLEASE RSVP HERE, so we know to expect you and send you directions for parking.

We look forward to seeing you then!

In July, we kicked off 9 months of service with the incredible students of Youth Leadership Mobile. Twenty-nine students from 10 area high schools started their nine-month journey with Youth Leadership Mobile at their Summer Intensive over the summer focusing on the arts, the environment, health & human services, and government. Since that time, the group has been volunteering throughout Mobile County as they learn about different agencies and plan for their individual service projects.

We would like to thank our partners, comprised of past Leadership Mobile graduates, who volunteered their time to be with our students and model servant leadership so beautifully. You each are an inspiration to them and to Mobile United. We would also like to thank both the City of Mobile and Mobile County Commission for providing funding each year so we can continue to cultivate our future leaders.

Follow us on any one of our social media channels below to see what adventures they get into next!
