"From an epicenter of historical carbon emissions, Greenlyte is dedicated to driving the green transformation of one of Europe's largest economic regions, and globally scaling a DAC technology capable of tackling global warming at giga-ton scale."
- Martin Schmickler, Greenlyte Carbon Technologies Chief of Staff
Martin manages the research, development and deployment for direct air capture (DAC) plant projects at Greenlyte Carbon Technologies. Previously, he headed the Entrepreneurship Center at RWTH Aachen University, worked as a startup coach for several deep-tech spin-offs, founded a social venture, finished a PhD on disruptive innovation (RWTH Aachen), and completed a research fellowship (Harvard University). An industrial engineer by training, he also studied at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the University of St.Gallen, where he gained further practical experience in the automotive and chemical industries.
Can you explain what you do in such a way that a child would understand?
As the Chief of Staff of a DAC startup, I help a team of over 50 exceptional engineers, scientists and technicians work seamlessly together to develop technology that removes carbon from the air and helps fight climate change.
As the bridge between our founders and the tech team, I make sure everyone is aligned and working efficiently toward the same goals. I'm responsible for managing our deployment and research and development projects to ensure that we're making the best use of our time and resources to increase the maturity of our technology, and that problems are resolved quickly when things don't go as planned.
What is Greenlyte's origin story?
As a successful entrepreneur, our CEO Florian Hildebrand embarked on an innovation journey through German technical universities to find the most promising technologies to stop climate change.
