Healthcare delivery has an environmental footprint - from medical devices and pharmaceuticals to supply chains, energy use, waste, and digital services. Understanding that footprint is an important first step. The next is knowing how to turn environmental evidence into sustainable, scalable change.

This live, online, interactive workshop brings together Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Implementation Science (ImS) to help health professionals and researchers evaluate environmental impacts and implement climate-smart, resource-efficient health interventions.

Through lectures, case studies, hands-on exercises, and small-group work, participants will learn to:

  • Apply foundational Life Cycle Assessment approaches to health technologies, services, and systems
  • Use Implementation Science theories and frameworks to identify barriers and design implementation strategies
  • Examine implementation outcomes such as feasibility, acceptability, cost, reach, and fidelity alongside environmental impacts
  • Apply these methods to an ongoing project or health-system challenge
  • Explore emerging applications, including AI for LCA and climate-and-health research
