Boston Main Street Foundation

Technology Initiative - Expansion

Learn about the expansion of the BMSF Technology Transformation Initiative which is designed to support small businesses.

This free program offers access to the following services:

State-of-the-art point of sale technology
Online ordering and e-commerce technology
Reduced credit card processing rates
Business coaching

There was an original pilot that consisted of five businesses and each has seen significant improvement in their operations. There has never been a harder time to be a small business in greater Boston, so please take advantage of the opportunity this program provides. America is Facing a Record Shortage of

Poll Workers

As Coronavirus continues to impact Americans across the country, we are also seeing a staggering decrease in poll workers – which could mean closed polling places and long delays for elections in 2020.

You can help make sure we have a safe, fair, efficient election for all voters, and potentially get paid to do it. Click here for information.

Free 90-Day Blue Bikes Passes

As the region continues to reopen, the City of Boston has a great opportunity to help many employees get to work. The Boston Transportation Department is offering free 90-day BlueBikes passes to help out some of our most important workers: those employed at grocery stores, pharmacies, restaurants, and local retail shops.

Anyone who works in these industries in Boston is eligible for the pass. Click here for information

You may submit an application to register or pre-register to vote in Massachusetts if:

You are a citizen of the United States; and
You are 16 years old; and
You are not currently incarcerated by reason of a felony conviction.

If you meet the above requirements, you may apply online, by mail, or in-person.

The deadline to register to vote in any election or regular town meeting is twenty (20) days prior to the date of the election or meeting. The deadline to register to vote in a special town meeting is ten (10) days prior to the special town meeting.

NOTE: For all 2020 elections, the deadline to register to vote will be 10 days before the date of the election.

Mail in Voting!

Voting by mail is available to all voters for all elections in 2020. You do not need an excuse to vote by mail this year.

To vote by mail, all you need to do is:

Complete a Vote by Mail Application;
Deliver your application to your local election office;
Vote when your ballot arrives;
Return your ballot.

Applications must reach your local election office by August 26 for the State Primary. Applications must reach your local election office by October 28 for the State Election.

State Primary ballots need to be back at your local election office by 8 p.m. on September 1.

State Election ballots need to be postmarked no later than November 3 and must be back at your local election office no later than November 6.

Apply early, in order to have enough time to return your ballot.

Meal Distribution Sites for Children and Youth: The City of Boston, in partnership with Project Bread, YMCA of Greater Boston, Boston Centers for Youth and Families, and other community organizations, will provide free meals to all youth and teens at various locations and times across the City.

Small Business Disaster Loan Assistance: The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
