OCEAN COUNTY SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT Conservation Conversation

We equip the community with knowledge needed to understand and care for our watershed.

We regulate soil disturbance to protect our landscapes and waterways.

We inspire stewardship to preserve the health of our soil, water and natural resources.

Congratulations, Kristin Adams!

After six years of gaining hands-on experience and training, Kristin Adams has become the first OCSCD staff member to become a Level 3 USDA-NRCS Certified Conservation Planner.

Staff in the Field

Standard for Sediment Basin (24-1)

During construction, large areas of exposed soil are often vulnerable to erosion from stormwater runoff. Suspended sediment can significantly degrade water quality, not only by settling in downstream waterways but by also transporting pollutants offsite that attach to soil particles. Read more about NJ Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Standard for Sediment Basin (24-1) in our Blog to learn what proper measures should be implemented.
