A Word from Pastor Bob

Many of you may already know I grew up in Pennsylvania, specifically western PA. I was not far

from Latrobe. You may be asking why that matters. Is it because that is where the Pittsburgh Steelers hold minicamp at St. Vincent College? Yes, that is true, but Latrobe is important for another reason. It is where Mister Rogers was born and raised. I grew up watching Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood. When I think of him and the show, I can’t help but think of the song, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” It was such an inviting way to understand how we should treat our neighbors.

This week we’ll talk about the law the Pharisees are testing Jesus on. He reminds them of the command to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your mind. Then he states there is a second commandment. You should love your neighbor as yourself. We have different views of neighbors, and we certainly treat them differently. What if we kept in line with the command from God, with the cheerfulness and openness of Mister Rogers? We will discern that very idea this Sunday.

Join us on Sunday at 10:00 AM, either in person or via live stream, as we take a deep look at loving our neighbors by following the law God gave and Jesus reminded us of. I look forward to worshiping with you all.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Bob

It is always a time of remembrance. Sunday, November 1, is All Saints Sunday. In our worship service, we will celebrate All Saints Day by remembering the members of our congregation who have gone to be with the Lord since this time last year. We will list each loved one’s name in the Sunday morning worship bulletin insert.

We also invite you to share the names of family and friends who passed this year but are not members of Farmville UMC. We will place their names on the back of the insert. Please email Nancy Alexander the names at officemgr.fumc@gmail.com or call the church office by Wednesday, October 28th. You are invited to light a candle in the Sanctuary in memory of family and friends during the worship service on Sunday, November 1.

If you worship with us online, please have a candle lit at home to remember loved ones. During the service, Pastor Bob will recognize our beloved Farmville members who
