Wonderful article and certainly hit home as I was dealing with my Mom's passing after several months of steady decline. Her quality of life was so compromised and in a way it was a relief that she was finally at peace. I was with her as she took her final breath and Rick was saying the final blessing for the dying. It was a very special and affirming experience. Thanks for your Snippets!! They are always spot on!"

"Love the doughnut in Heaven ending! And you provided some good suggestions earlier in this offering as well."

"Being a hospice nurse, we are met with these scenarios all the time ... offering condolences to families whom we have become attached to. (Even though back in nursing school, we were told not to become attached to our patients. How could you be in the field and not be the type of person who becomes attached?) One of my favorite lines to families, which I really do believe, is: Thank you for allowing us to be a part of [name]'s journey."

"Beautiful snippets. It always amazes me how the death of a loved one shakes our reality. We are all going to fly over the rainbow eventually! So why not spend the rest of our time on this planet being happy and thankful for the life we have been given ... while doing no harm to anyone else. Life is way too effin' short to be caught up in drama. I have no doubt that the Spirits of those who passed on are still watching over and protecting us, sending messages, signs: feathers, songs, birds, dragonflies, butterflies and even firetrucks! Death is just a portal. No need to fear it."

"I loved today’s snippet. So, I was at Bill’s funeral, too, on Wednesday. My cousin, Carol, is his wife. We are a family that do not get to see each other often, but that is going to change. Life is so fragile and beautiful. Anyway, thank you for your inspiring words. As an aside, the day Bill passed I was finishing up my training to be a hospice volunteer. I think I have a calling."
