The Board of Supervisors is inviting community members to apply for 13 open seats on the African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub Transitional Community Advisory Body (TCAB).
The TCAB was created to guide the development of the African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub (AAHWRH) during its first phase.
Members will provide input to the Office of Racial Equity and Social Justice (ORESJ) in selecting an independent lead entity to oversee the Hub.
I co-led the effort to create an African American Holistic Wellness and Resource Hub in order to better serve the needs of our African American residents.
What TCAB Members Will Do:
- Review and provide feedback on criteria for selecting the Implementation Lead Entity, Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Community Council.
- Support outreach and recruitment of qualified candidates for these roles.
Who Should Apply:
We’re looking for Contra Costa County residents with lived personal and professional experiences reflecting the needs and priorities of vulnerable African Americans.
Balanced representation across gender, age, class, physical ability, and district is important.

- Behavioral Health (particularly for African American males)
- Housing Navigation (especially for families with young children and those at immediate risk)
- Preventative Health Care (elders and young children)
- Infant and Maternal Health
- Resource Navigation (Medi-Cal, CalFresh, public benefits)
- Reentry Support and Restorative Alternatives (especially for African American males)
