Friends of TCFL Donate $50k to St. Michaels Library
A huge thank‑you to our wonderful Friends of the Library for their generous $50,000 donation in support of our newly expanded St. Michaels branch, opening March 21. This gift comes as the Friends celebrated an incredible 50 years of championing our library and our community in 2024. We’re grateful for their decades of dedication and the lasting impact they continue to make.
The Friends also announced a gift challenge to everyone in Talbot County, and in particular the residents of St. Michaels and the Bay Hundred area, to make their own contributions for the St. Michaels Library. Donations for this challenge may be made to the Friends of the Library in person at either branch, by mail, or on the Friends page of the Library’s website – and please make a note that the donation is for the St. Michaels gift challenge.
We’re also thrilled to introduce the new Friends Corner, a warm gathering space dedicated in their honor — a perfect spot to read, relax, and connect. Join us for the grand opening of the St. Michaels Branch on March 21 and experience it for yourself!

Help Us Shape the Future of TCFL!
The Library is creating a new 3-year Strategic Plan to guide our work and better serve the community. As part of this process, we want to hear from you to make sure the plan reflects the needs and priorities of Talbot County residents.
We invite you to help shape the future of the Talbot County Free Library by completing THIS survey by 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 4th 2026. All survey responses are anonymous and will be collected and summarized by our planning consultant, Due East, and shared with our staff, Board, and Strategic Planning Committee.
If you would like to be entered into a raffle for one of several $50 Visa gift cards, please provide your email address at the end of the survey. The gift card drawing will take place on February 26. If you are selected, you will receive an email from Due East. Please bring that email to the Circulation Desk to pick up your gift card.
Thank you for your time and for sharing your thoughts.
