TCA 2023 Boat Cruise - Recap |
|
The TCA held its first-ever Boat Cruise this year, which was the highly anticipated follow-up event to 2019's Summer Sizzler. People from all genres of the industry attended the event, and it turned out to be a successful and enjoyable night of networking and entertainment.
More than 200 TCA Members participated in the event, enjoying the sights, food, and toasting to the industry we all love. At the end of the night, everyone had a fantastic time and took advantage of the benefits of attending one of TCA's premium events.
Sponsored by our friends at Home Depot, guests were all greeted with a glass of sparkling wine before embarking on a three-hour tour on Lake Ontario. Despite the weather apps predicting thunderstorms, the weather turned out to be spectacular, and everyone had a memorable night.
We would like to thank the Association of Architectural Technologists Ontario, our other sponsor, for helping us make this event unforgettable.
After the TCA 2023 Boat Cruise, the only question left was, "What's the plan for the 2024 Summer event?" Rest assured, it will be something special.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, TCA is now commissioning statutory declarations virtually for our members.
If you require the signature of a commissioner of oaths, the virtual commissioning process will be as follows:

Email us at statdec@tcaconnect.com to set up the video conference.
- Commissioning staff will ask for identification in order to verify the member's identity. Have your picture identification ready.
- Once confirmed you will sign the Statutory Declarations while the commissioning staff witness. You will then need to scan and send it by email.
- Once received, the commissioning staff will print and verify the signature that they witnessed and if everything is satisfactory, they will sign and email it back.

Parliament & Co. project combines Toronto’s old-world
charm with modern living
A new development at Parliament and Queen streets in Toronto is inspired by the city’s warehouses and artist lofts from the ‘60s and ‘70s.
Located in the historic Corktown neighbourhood, Parliament & Co. is a mixed-use development designed by Kohn Partnership Architects. The developers are The Downing Street Group and The Sher Corporation and construction manager is Grove Project Management Inc.
The building includes 3,000 square feet of retail at grade, open concept commercial lofts on levels two to five and live-work lofts on levels six to 10. The office component is called Parliament & Co. and the live-work units are Warehouse Lofts.
The warehouse style and materiality is reflected on the inside and the outside of the building with open concept, loft-like spaces, oversized black steel-framed windows with natural wood benches, whitewashed original brick walls and architectural concrete floors.
The building is located on Parliament Street, one building north of the intersection of Queen and Parliament. The site originally housed a derelict two-storey commercial building that was demolished to make way for the new build.
Some of the amenities in the building include meeting rooms, a gym, a lounge area and a bicycle storage area.
The 11th floor features an indoor/outdoor event area with a glass-enclosed space and retractable walls offering views of the downtown core.
