Parent Portal Update

Dear VCS Families,

We’re preparing to launch a new Parent Portal where families can set lunch spending limits and submit planned absence notifications. These notifications will go directly to your school’s front office, and you’ll receive an email once they have been reviewed and processed.

A small group of parents are testing the portal before we make it available schoolwide. Changes to PowerSchool this summer affected features that previously worked, including lunch limits. Switzer Enterprises has been helping us develop a solution, and we’ll share access instructions once testing is complete.

If your student was not present on picture day or you would like to have a new picture taken, Dorian will be taking pictures again on

Who should go to the camera on retake day?

Any student who was absent on the original picture day
Any new students who have not been photographed
Students wanting a retake photo

If a student ordered a package and wants a new photo, please have them return the original package to the photographer on retake day.

All students must be in school uniforms for this picture!

GATE Teacher Needed

VCS is seeking an enthusiastic teacher to lead our after-school GATE program for students in grades 3–5. The program will meet three days a week from October through April. Curriculum and a stipend will be provided.

We are looking for someone who has experience working with students, enjoys teaching, and is excited to engage curious learners through active, meaningful learning experiences.

It's that time of year again! Cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon.

Our lost and found is overflowing with jackets and other clothing left behind as the weather warms up. Please stop by to claim your child’s belongings.

Please remember to label all clothing!

Carpool

Please arrive after 3:00 pm, when MS dismissal is nearly complete. Arriving before 3:00 pm creates gridlock for MS traffic exiting campus. You may be asked to leave and return at the approved time if you are blocking traffic from exiting campus.

After-School Play

To help keep all students safe after school, we ask that parents who are supervising their children on the playground continue to follow the same rules and expectations that are in place during the school day. Once students are under parent supervision, parents are responsible for actively watching their children and ensuring that they follow playground expectations. Our Extended Care staff are present but only supervising and supporting those students in the program. They cannot be responsible for controlling or disciplining students who are under their parents’ supervision. Consistency between the school day and after-school hours helps provide a safe and positive environment for everyone.

The 2026–2027 Google Form is now closed. To enroll your child or change between full-time and hourly/drop-in care, please visit the Elementary School Office to complete an Extended Care Maintenance Form.
