During the 2020 Presidential Campaign, Joe Biden pledged to return to the Obama administration's foreign policy of re-engagement with Cuba including reopening travel by US peoples, allowing US families to send money to loved ones and reopening the US Embassy in Havana.
These would be only a few steps to start the overturning of more than 200 additional policies that the Trump administration implemented to effect “regime change” in Cuba. However, the Biden administration has not changed anything and, in fact, stepped up its attack on Cuba recently by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's attack on Cuba's international medical brigades who went to over 30 countries to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.
In response, the Cuba solidarity movement has expanded and united in an unprecedented way, including the Cuban American community, to pressure for changes. Join us for a discussion on Cuba.
Hear about the devastating impact of the US blockade and hear about exciting ways YOU and your branch can help us change US foreign policy towards Cuba.
Our guest is Elena Freyre, Cuban-American president of the Foundation For Normalization of US/Cuba Relations. She will be joining us from Miami.
