MAGiC Updates
We concluded our Annual Conference on Nov 11, 2020. We had a wonderful turnout! It was quite different with the rooms setup for Social Distancing. Everyone was so respectful and it was great to see everyone and be able to exchange ideas, skills and have FUN! I thank everyone who attended and thank you to all of the speakers!

Hold the date for 2021! June 14-15 and 1/2 day on the 16th!

Our Open Source Transformation Series was a huge success! We will be doing it again in June!

Small Group - Big Impact
We have a unique learning and networking experience planned for our 5th Annual Meeting in November. As always the atmosphere will be full of energy and excitement that our conferences are known for! We have expanded space and we are splitting the sessions into smaller groups to ensure social distancing - plus we feel that the smaller sessions will increase interactions between the attendees and speakers!

Some highlights:
  • Open Source Transformation Series - Jose Acosta, Patrick Behr, Mike Pavlak
  • Larry Bolhuis and Larry Amond - Managing IBM i Startup and Shut down
  • Charlie Guarino - Code Refactoring
  • Floyd Del Muro - Devops

  • and more!

We have a great event planned and we hope to you see you there!
Processing JSON with DB2 and RPG
Presented by: Jim Buck, imPower Technologies
IBM has done some great things that allow DB2 to process JSON objects. This session shows you “Tips and Tricks” to make your life easier when you start working with JSON data. After a short discussion of the HTTP functions that have been added to SYSTOOLS and how they can be used with the JSON_TABLE Function, Jim shows the attendee how to work with the SYSTOOLS.HTTPGETCLOB and JSON_TABLE Functions to consume an API returning a JSON object. If you have tried using these functions many have problems writing the correct SQL/JSON path expressions to extract the data and represent it in a relational table. Jim will help the attendee understand this process with solid examples.

Creating PDF Documents with Python
Presented by: Mike Larsen, Central Park Data
Mike Larsen, Project Manager and Senior developer at Central Park Data Systems will be sharing how to create PDF Documents using Python on IBM i. You can read about this process in his recently published article and other tips and techniques on the IT Jungle website.
