Lock It Up, Lead by Example: Summer Substance Safety for Families

Summer in Boone County means backyard barbecues, pool parties, and family gatherings. While we're enjoying the season, it's important to keep our homes safe, especially when it comes to storing alcohol and cannabis products away from children and teens.

Is That a Hoodie or a Vape? How Teens Are Hiding Vaping Devices in Plain Sight

Sounds silly, right? If you think you know what a vape looks like, you may want to think again. Today's vaping products are not always the bulky, obvious devices they once were. Many are intentionally designed to blend in with the things teens already carry every day, making them nearly impossible for parents, teachers, and other caregivers to spot.

Coalition Highlights

In May 2026, the Boone County Alliance advanced its community wellness and prevention initiatives through strategic outreach, capacity building, and targeted mental health education. The coalition directly engaged hundreds of community members by tabling at the Mental Health on Monmouth event, supplying 50 Operation Parent handbooks to Ockerman Middle School, and raising awareness for the 988 crisis line at the City of Florence Memorial Day Parade. Infrastructure and planning efforts were equally robust, highlighted by a comprehensive Board Retreat, active participation in six regional community meetings—including the NKY Safety Net Alliance and the Regional Youth Summit Planning—and completion of the multi-day KPN Spring Training series. Driven by strong community alignment, the Alliance also amplified its local footprint through an expansive media and marketing push, drawing over 1,400 digital interactions across Facebook and Instagram, sustaining a 46% newsletter open rate, and generating an estimated 275,000 views via TANK transit ads.
